No Pack to Bury the Heart of Stone [1987]

Content: Zack and Sephiroth meet for the first time and then head out to Wutai
Setting: ShinRa building, assorted ships and trucks

He shouldn't be here, Sephiroth thought to himself - and not for the first time that day either. There were better uses of his time than being dragged across several continents just to report on the situation in Wutai in person. He was more use out there anyway, could better effect how things were going out there than he could spending time in interminable meetings. He could swear they never really listened to what he said anyway, given how he'd been seeing the war portrayed in the media to say nothing of the fact that they'd never once given him all the supplies he'd asked for.
I swear, they think me some kind of miracle worker. It was hard enough as it was keeping the deathtoll down out there, and harder yet when he was stuck thousands of miles away from the battlefield. And then there was the fact that someone had had the bright idea to have him take a look at the newest batch of hopefuls before they were sent out to the death-fields of Wutai. That fact did little to soothe his already growing displeasure, not that he let any of it show on his face as he strode through the halls of the massive ShinRa building, heading towards where the assembled hopefuls would doubtless already be waiting.
He really didn't want to have to do this.
