Sammy and I got home safely from The Gathering of the Gargoyles. Knowing this was the last Gathering is weighing heavy on my heart but the amazing, wonderful memories from the past 13 are keeping my heart so full that it refuses to be crushed ( Read more... )

The attendance has slowly been decreasing year after year. Less people means less money. When Greg found out just how in the red we were, he decided it was time to put a kibosh on it.

We'll see where things go from here: Perhaps a new group will start their own con because there were lots of rumblings of that during The Gathering and on Station 8 (I just pray that they know what they're getting themselves into, financially and emotionally); Perhaps The Gathering can attach itself to other conventions in some form; Perhaps it will become an on-line event... but yes, The Gathering in its current incarnation is over.

I'd love to say "man, if I'd known it was the last one, I would've gone!" -- but there was no way I could've. Damn. :(

I'm really sorry you couldn't make it *hugs* it would have been awesome to see you.

Closing ceremonies was a mess. Greg kept getting choked up and had to take moments to compose himself... we all broke down, and it hit Thom the worst.

But NO ONE can say that we didn't go out with fucking BANG! :)
