So you know the companies that take money out of your paycheck and set it aside in a tax deductible acct so your tax bracket is lowered a little? you know those? you know how theyre supposed to help

their thinking is "well we wouldnt pay for a normal persons food, so we would only pay the difference in your food vs their food." which is funny, cuz they wont pay for vitamins either, even though those are medical treatment as well, even though theyre otc for everyone. lame-o. I understand that they only want to pay the difference between my inflated costs and "normal" people's costs. but to make the person responsible for monitoring the "basic" cost of "normal people" food vs. their own cost, I think, is just ridiculous. other countries give like, 60% food tax rebates, because the GOVERNMENT knows the cost to be more and is like, yeah its about 60%. or 30%. or whatever. I do not want to get into a scenario where I have to justify my purchase of ice cream. seriously. its gluten free chocolate chip cookie dough. bitches.
It's another indication of the absence of the concept mental health in this country. I can't consume most food, ever, but you're going to tell me that trying to maintain a normal life with waffles or ice cream is unnecessary? For all you know everyone in my office brings waffles to work and there's a decidedly waffle-normalized culture dominating my place of employ. Similarly, it must be acknowledged that for some people (people who have been not-doing-so-hot for most of their lives mind you) it could be immensely emotionally damaging to have to keep up with the normal brands. The receipt thing is amazing. It's just another program bent on preventing people from using it. To preserve my own consumer rights in this day there would have to be two of me for all of the bureaucracy to been taken care of properly. What a mess.
point, set and match. you said it all. BTW, i want to life in a place with a waffle normalized culture. that sounds AMAZING. i just talked to the people at redlands to see what their catering situation was like and who/what they were accommodating in terms of food. after we got past the "no its not really like atkins..." theyre checking to see if they can prep separate plates or whatnots, or if theres any part of any meals we should even show up to. will report back. :-)
still one of the only countries in the world (i think there's like...5?) where you're technically innocent until proven guilty....which is a nice perk. but yeah. our healthcare system. holy fuck.
