So today started out brilliant, but it kind of stinks at the end. I was able to get my car repaired at no charge because it was under warranty by 1300 miles, phew! I am glad that it wasn’t a huge issue that would make my car break down, but it would have given me some pretty poor gas mileage.
My car’s engine light came on Monday morning when I was driving to work. I’ve driven this car about 50,000 miles since I got it a little over 2 years ago. This was the first time I’ve had to go to the dealer for something, besides my heat shield rattling. So not bad. It ended up being the computer module that controlled my fuel and emissions. It had been malfunctioned because it was bad. This is probably why I have been getting bad mileage on trips and have had the weird fluctuation from the needle on my gas gauge when it gets below a half tank.
Anyways, it was under warranty for up to 8 years or 80,000 miles. So my car had 78,100 on it. Totally luck on my part. Maybe I should buy a powerball ticket or something?
I’ve been doing a lot better at work these past few weeks, although today was sort of bad. I accidently brought people into an area they weren’t supposed to be in. I didn’t know that I couldn’t do that, and I was actually looking for someone. So I got lectured for it. I should have known or something. For some reason I feel ultra crappy about it. I’m trying to listen to happy music right now. I am in one of those “I can’t do anything right” moods again. Maybe its because Conor had to leave to go home today.
Speaking of that, I had an awesome Valentine’s day yesterday. Conor came down here to visit on Friday night. I thought he was going to leave on Sunday, but he didn’t. He had taken Monday through Wednesday off of work, so we could spend yesterday together. That was great. We spent most of the weekend hanging out. We went for a few 3-4 mile long walks around the neighborhood too, that was nice, there were some pretty neat houses and views that I hadn’t noticed while driving around in the same areas.
Yesterday we went to a restaurant down the street from me. It was built inside an old bank and was pretty nice. We got their prix fixe dinner and it included tiger prawn shrimp, a really good salad, 2 filets and some scallops, asparagus and some ridiculously good chocolate mousse with raspberry sauce for dessert.
I got him an iJet for the occasion. It’s a remote for his iPod, so he can sit at his desk and change songs. The remote has a range of 150 feet so that will be nice for his apartment. He really liked it even though it didn’t show up until this morning! So much for priority shipping, I ordered it on Friday of last week.
I got teddy bears that Velcro to each other and they hug and snuggle. I also got Final Fantasy IV for the GB micro, which is what I wanted for Christmas originally. Then I got a really nice bottle of Cabernet, and a big ½ pound bag of M&Ms. Pretty awesome gifts. I already started to play FFIV and I am so happy I have it finally. I also got 2 cacti. Is it cacti or cactus or cactuses? Who knows? Anyways, they are moon cactus and I named them Sylvester and Cactuar™. If you are a total nerd you know what I am referencing with the second name.
I am so bad, I still have my little Christmas tree up in my living room. Since I was gone for most of January, I never got a chance to take it down. Plus I have to drag all these boxes up from downstairs and that’s such a pain, because I have to lock and unlock 3 doors every trip I make. It is difficult to do when you are juggling a few big awkward boxes, especially the Christmas tree box. Oh well, I have to do it, especially since I accidentally spilled some cactus soil all over the carpet next to it and all the Christmas stuff has to go before I can clean it up.
Conor left at lunch today, he dropped me off to get my car and then had to get on the road. He has class tonight and tomorrow night, or else he might have stayed longer. I am kind of sad that I have to hang out by myself tonight, but I do need to clean up the stuff I said I would, plus I need to clean from the weekend since we both tend to be messy when we visit each other.
I had a to do list for work because I was asked to make one. Well I am done with it a week earlier than I thought I would be so now I am just trying to clean up my area and get organized. I am really curious to see if they are actually just going to have me working on this one project while our group is so inundated with new ones coming in the next month. I get my 90 day plan in a week. My goal is to become the injection molding guru, of course it won’t be in 90 days, but it’s a start.
This weekend is a three day weekend, for President’s Day. I haven’t had that holiday since high school and winter break or something. I don’t mind.
Next time I post, I will try not to be as boring.
