Glad you kept an eye out. Taunting bums is a rather nasty venture, especially if it was unprovoked. Surprise the poor guy with lunch some time, you'll make his day. Messing with cat lovers is dangerous indeed, glad 'Alice' the cat has a fan... :)

His real name is Robert Gilmore. He's quite intelligent and interesting to talk to, if he's in the mood for it. He's also legally blind and chooses to walk in the street, which just drives the cops nuts.
People have dubbed him various names over the years, such as
Simon, or
The Dillons Guy (he used to wear a red sweatshirt and hang out there to protest their treatment of developmentally disabled people).

I'm glad to hear you appreciate the town characters. I got to know quite a few when I worked for Independence Inc.

Hey, thanks. I figured someone here in town would know what his real name was. There are a few of the squatter kids that I've been picking up their names, as well as those of their dogs.

I grew up in Lawrence, and I remember that guy. Never met him myself, but I think that my parents might have, and I know an old teacher of mine mentioned the Dillons guy who was legally blind.
