From Xtreme 2 - "After the battle, Zero assisted in releasing the DNA Souls. Now the Reploids would return to normal. He has no doubt that X has finished his mission now. Zero and X have faced and fought through many difficulties together. As long as X is with him, Zero can do anything. Though he doesn't express it, Zero believes this with all his heart. This is something that will never change."

Ah, X and Zero...

Also, you might want to point out the resemblance the X2 storyline with Zero's body parts has to the myth of Iris and Osiris, where it's a wife gathering up her husband's parts to restore him.

Ahh, I never did play the Xtreme games, but that's pretty good evidence right there! As for the myth, that's pretty good, but maybe a tad esmasculating for X? (To compare him to a wife, despite the fact we all know he is one. )

Also, you might want to mention that canonically, Leviathan is a split personality of X's, and she thinks Zero is damn hot and such. So it's pretty safe to say that if X had been female when he wasn't crazy/assisting with genocide, she definitely would have done Zero, in addition to the whole thing about near-opposite-sex-clones.

So basically everything the Guardians say that is complimentary to Zero (how being with him/fighting him makes them feel alive, etc.), can be taken as X's feelings, if a twisted/insane version of them.
