Possibly TMI...and long-windedorangecreamApril 20 2004, 19:19:39 UTC
I'd still much rather be one, but I was diagnosed with PCOS about two or three years ago and insulin resistance last summer, and my mother pressured me to go on a low-carb diet (don't hurt me, please!) so I could lose some weight and possibly not have to take medication (other than birth control, which seems to be helping a lot). The diet is working, so I'm sticking to that for now, as much as I'd rather not do it. I'd love to eat tofu, but I've read a number of things saying that soy might be a bad thing for women with PCOS (messes with hormone balances and such) and that makes me nervous, so I eat meat to get my protein. I still don't eat a lot of it, though.
