So, working a reference desk in a library is interesting on most days.

Today's reference transaction of awesome...

Student: How do I swear in an email?

Me: Wha?

Student: Like when you use symbols, like &#(*#@, what is the etiquette around that?

Me: Umm.. I don't think there is etiquette around swearing in any form but I generally think you are suppose

oh my god i'm not sure what's funnier. The fact that this is a reference question, or the fact that the student had the thought of asking about etiquette surrounding swearing.
