Okay, so Cassie's bed on the island has never been the most comfortable thing in the world but it was the worst thing she'd ever slept on. That might be reserved for what she woke up sleeping on this morning. She lay there for a while, thinking up all the things she was going to do to Cissie, Bart and Kon for this, before she finally opened her eyes. And blinked.
She groaned as she sat up and looked around, running a hand through her hair that was coming out of her ponytail. "Oh Hera, not again. Where am I now?" A thought occurred to her and she closed her eyes. A moment passed and gave a frustrated sigh. "Damn. No powers. Hey! Zuko!" She finally saw him standing up and rose from her make shift bed to make her way over to him. "Do you know where we are?"
"Cassie," he says, still processing what's going on. "Home. My home, I mean, the Fire Nation. This is my family's beach house on Ember Island." With his free hand, he scratches his head, puzzled. "I don't know how we got here, though. Do you have any idea what's going on?"
Then he realizes what it is he's feeling, the sensation within him of heat waiting to be unleashed, gone long enough that he didn't immediately realize it was back. Not wanting to startle anyone, since none of the others in the room will be familiar with it, he tries something small, just a very small-scale breath of fire. When it works, he grins. "My bending's back."
Seifer had been listening to the conversation from his position on the floor.
So they were off that damned Island at last, only instead of going home he'd ended up in Zuko's world instead. He could accept that. Maybe in some ways this would even be better.
"Looks like you've picked up some new recruits then, Zuko," he said as he rose to his feet.
Arya had put away her knife after a moment or two of registering who was around her, and where she was. And, particularly, what they were saying.
"Enjoy it while it lasts," she said, sitting up and curling her arms around her legs, suppressing a yawn. "I know what this is. It's happened to me before. We're not going to be here too long."
Aang had woken up a little while ago and had been meditating for a while on the back of a still slumbering Appa, where he'd slept. When he heard people stirring up at the house, he took a deep breath and then broke out in a large grin. He did a few tricks in the air, just for the fun of it, before landing on the window of Zuko's room.
"Hey Zuko...! Wow, where did they come from?" He asked as he stayed crouched on the window ledge just in case he had to go warn the others. Because there hadn't been four extra people in Zuko's room last night and two of them looked really strange. What was wrong with their hair?
It isn't exactly a surprise to see Aang appear on his windowsill, but it makes Zuko realize that he has no idea how he's going to explain all these people. "They're - friends," he says to Aang, hoping the Avatar at least trusts him enough to choose their allies wisely. "They've come to help us defeat my father."
While Aang believed Zuko that they were friends, he did have to wonder how they had gotten into the house without him and Appa, not to mention Toph, hearing them last night. "Where did they come from?"
Zuko can't tell Aang the truth, and that doesn't sit easy with him at all. He's just gained their trust, all of them finally, and now he has to lie. But telling the truth would just bring up complications they don't have time to address.
"Another island," he says, and he supposes that's the truth, sort of. "They're going to help us clear a path for you to get to my father."
"Katara," Zuko says, relieved and glad to see her, and not just because it's been months for him. He remembers, then, just for a moment - the last time he saw her, the last time he was here on Ember Island, after watching her be stronger than he ever expected, and he's always known Katara's strong, even when he was hunting Aang.
"This is Cassie, Arya, Seifer, and Edmund," he says, gesturing toward each of them in turn. "They're here to help."
