If anyone wants to beta this, I would forever be in their debt. I'm a little fuzzy on the grammar of dialogue, and I'm pretty sure that the characters in the story do far too much "With God" or "With their heart". You decide. Anyway, for your consideration, chapter 2:

Lol. I love Ahmed's use of sarcasm here - such a thing would never have crossed his mind before! And the way he keeps trying to convince himself that he's happy here in civilization, that he is unchanged by his adventures. And his new-found willingness to do manual labor.

Thanks - yeah, I'm glad you said that about "it never would have crossed his mind before", because that's what I was trying to convey. Poor Ahmed! That's why I wanted to make Jahmhoury a more sensitive, empathetic character. Also manual labor+Ahmed=hawt.

Augh - your comment reminds me that I meant to apologize for blatently copying your story! I promise that it does branch off into its own thing! If I am indeed capable of a plot twist, that's what's supposed to happen next.

LOL. I didn't consider it a copy--if you had a woman, then I might be a bit more worried. *G* But for a guy to arrive in a city, in need of money and only having a few family contacts, it's probably natural that it would work out in this way every time.

Thank you so much! One of my favorite things in the film was watching Ahmed grow and become more competent, so I'm glad that the fic is conveying that, at least a little!
