This really isn't fair....

I think we're losing another ferret.... there's something wrong with Snickers and we don't know what to do for him. He won't eat, he's having trouble walking, and it looks like he's in a lot of pain. It came on all of a sudden; he seemed perfectly fine the night before last. Doug's going to bring him to the vet first thing in the morning, but I ( Read more... )

Glad you like the recipe! Took me over a decade to figure it out, and I'm still learning how to make it better.
It's good with everything too. Melt some cheese on it, toast it, make a sandwich (roast beef, PB&J, tuna), serve it with soup, salad or pasta. Great for breakfast - toast it up to go. Try it with apple butter.

I made 4 loaves between yesterday and today. hrm.. might need some help eating it all.... any volunteers?

Gee, it looks like everybody wants the recipe!

Had it warm with honey butter last night, and toasted with some Cheddar just now for lunch....... at least the little bit that Doug left me.

I think I need to make some more.....

Sorry about Snickers, but not to be insensitive - you do know that the life expectancy of a ferret is 5 years? Just hate to see them suffer is all, I know. Hope it all turns out for the best for all.

andyes I'd like the recipe too. :O)

Yeah, I know...... but all of our ferrets have exceeded that. The problem with Snickers is that we never really knew how old he was -- we "adopted" him from people who knew nothing at all about him. Couldn't remember where/when they got him, didn't know any of his habits or quirks. They even kept him outside year-round in a filthy chicken coop. We took Hershey from them too, and she was so emaciated that we thought she wouldn't last the weekend. Morons.

Well, his problem was pneumonia. Doug took him to the vet this morning, and there was nothing they could do for him except send him on his way. I can't believe that it came on so quickly. Poor little Hershey's gonna be lonely.......

You gave him a far better life than he had. Our furbabies never seem to stay long enough with us. Light a candle, remember them fondly and heal. Give your other furbabies extra love because they will be in mourning too.
