In Need of a Sorting Hat

How do the rest of you sort your buddy lists on chat programs, Facebook and the like?

I felt like having people in multiple groups on Facebook was nice, but it also really clutters up my buddy list when using a multi-protocol messenger (like Pidgin or Empathy). I've had people sorted based on how frequently I speak to them, how I know them, and a ( Read more... )

on msn, my contacts are sorted by country, because most of the people I talk to on there are international.
on aim, my contacts are sorted by region, with a few special categories for people from school/not dance games.
on facebook, I have groups 1, 2, and 3, for different levels of privacy for my posts, 1 being people I don't know very well or at all, and 3 being my closest friends. tada!

also, I hate facebook chat. I use aim (but lately I am never on because it is too distracting), and google talk on my phone!

I have like seven friends, so any opinion I have on the matter is pretty useless. However, I think categorizing a message platform as "useless" is pretty silly, as they all fulfill equal roles for someone who doesn't use them frequently. I type messages, and they are received and (sometimes) answered. That's about it. Success.
