As far as casualties go, this is nothing, but this isn't really a war. This is a sad state of military action. Taking Normandy beach cost thousands of lives. Every island in Japan cost thousands of soldiers their lives. The difference was the American people believed in it. I believe the draft should be called back. For all those people who didn't vote, and don't pay attention to the politics of our world. If it meant your life would you? The draft has been part of human society since day one. If you want to eat in this cave, you can fight to protect this cave. If this many soldiers died, on the ground hunting down Bin Laden and bringing his sorry head the American people, would it be worth it? I think yes. He might have made a run for Iraq then if he and Saddam were truly allies. (Saddam would have him as well) Now though, done is done. We must finish what a fool has started. A wise man once said, 'do not chase two rabbits at once, both will get away.'
