Whoa. It's been nearly three months since the last time I logged onto LJ.  I miss divulging my thoughts into cyberworld.

This semester has been pretty crazy, just trying to keep up with everything.  I thought I had picked out 3 easy classes and 1 hard class, but I managed to end up with 4 hard classes and an extra 20-page research paper.  Oh well ( Read more... )

Erika, what a pleasant surprise! :)

I'm sorry to hear about your university offers :( Oh well, join the 'My Life is Upside-Down Club'. I've made myself a lifelong member! Seriously, though, you'll be alright ;) These kind of things always work out when you least expect it. Have you tried directly calling the schools you applied to to see if they have any places? They tell kids over here to do that if they aren't accepted into their uni of choice. It's worth a try! :)

And Ian's O face is the sexiest thing since sex began XD

That sucks! :( I hope you get better news from the last couple places. Nothing wrong with having a back-up plan, though, and it doesn't have to be forever. I will have to go look up what a Med Asst does - sounds like it might be interesting work.

Hi Erika! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve had those exact thoughts myself (giving up my love of writing/literature and going for a practical degree instead, like health care). I got about half-way through a medical office/medical assistant program and then realized, I’m a writer at heart. (That’s when I shifted gears and decided to finish my bachelor’s degree). If you really want to be a professor, then hold on to that hope and work toward that goal no matter what life puts in your path. My father is a great example of that. He started out life as a grocery boy making minimum wage. He’s a college professor now. And he not only got there without assistance (his parents didn’t give him any financial support or even moral support; they didn't encourage him to attend college), but he did it while supporting a family and overcoming countless obstacles. So, it’s possible! You just need to have a clear vision in your mind of who you want to be someday. The How is the variable, not the Who ( ... )
