Feeling Ranty

Before I begin: Most of the people that will read this will not like what I have to say. It involves both religion and politics, and considering I am a lifelong Catholic and a conservative, you probably all know where this is going. If you are going to flame me or be angry at me, I suggest you turn away.....now.

Ranting here. )

Yeah...I was sort of baffled by this article as well. I'm trying to find a more informative source than CNN so I can understand it properly ( ... )

From what I understand, the Anglicans who are coming into communion with the Church are going to be a uniate faith, like the Ruthenians -they still "answer" to Rome and accept the primacy of the Pope and the Church's doctrine, but they get to keep their own liturgy (which was really so similar to Mass that I used to call it Catholic Lite) and other traditions. But really, it's so close to being Catholic to begin with that I can't see that there is all that much that would be compromised, you know? I am thinking, however, that the Rosary will be right out for them ( ... )

Okay...this is an attack on ecumenism? On what planet? These people either have no idea what the definition of ecumenism is, or they think they know but obviously do not. The stupid, it burns.

The Anglican church has always been what I call Catholic Lite: same great taste, less Pope. And since really, that is the only difference between them...why not let the conservatives in? How is it doing anyone any harm? The liberals don't like the conservatives because they don't like gay or women priests, so I think of this as a win-win for everyone involved. Why the big to-do?

I am avoiding any more news coverage about this, lest I get even stabbier than I already am.
