That's what I imagine too. He rises, then the world withers and dies, or something... so that can't be it, exactly, if Kripke wants 22 eps next season!
I always thought Lucifer would rise no matter what, but I really don't think he's going to be next season's Big Bad, as I've heard some paople say. That would be a little... well, IDK, not believable... so much. I think he'll rise in the finale, but it might get taken care of by the first couple of episodes of S5. I've heard that the Sam vs Dean thing might still last into the first couple of episodes of S5. Hopefully it's going to be because Sam and Dean are going to realize they work best TOGETHER and they'll be able to take down Lucy soon enough... somehow.
See, that's the thing - I figured he would be like you said the menacing figure in the back, because I dont see it working within the structure of the show any other way. At the same time, I don't know if I can buy into Lucifer being in the background since wouldn't he just want to take all all the humanity?
As for Sammy going darkside - somehow, some way the boys will have to be working together. It's 22 episodes. Kripke cannot have them be separated and against each other for 22 episodes.
What is the Christian version? I thought it was fire and brimstone. I just...I don't see Lucifer taking Lilith's approach and hiding out. Why would he?
I don't see Sam going darkside either. I just don't. I can see a few episodes of Sam vs. Dean, but an entire season? No, no way. Though I do see (thanks to a stupid bunny) Sammy leaving Dean for a while. I think the boys need some time apart.
I think next season is more of the epic battle between heaven and hell if Lucifer will rise I dont think thats necessary the end of the world by itself, its bad obviously but I think there is a fight to be had, well in Kripke's version anyway the other opinion some people have of course is that Lucifer will use Sam as his vessel, Im not sure I can see that but hey who knows, Kripke will probably surprise us all
That's what I heard Kripke and Co. say about next year - the epic battle between good and evil. That means Lucifer rises but decides not to destroy humanity right away? I don't know. I hope Kripke explains why that's the case.
I don't see Lucifer possessing Sam either. Well, I don't want to see it. Besides, I just don't see that happening for 22 episodes straight.
I'm thinking that would be interesting, and I'm also thinking Kripke needs to handle that very sensitively, because there are folks who know Revelations real well.
I just...I don't know. Kripke doesn't strike me as somebody who would handle it sensitively though. Especially lately, he's throwing whatever he wants in. Should be interesting to see.

oh, crap. *moves to the land of denial*
Yeah, I'm very curious how Kripke's going to handle it all.
