Alien nation - Pondering

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately. I often think I am from an alien nation and therefore "human" behavior is very odd to me.

So here is the quandary for me today.  We teach our kids that they need to know/learn the right answer. At work, you need to come up with the right answers.  Being right is equated to good.  Being wrong is bad.  However

Because if you're right, everyone else is wrong, and since you're the one who is right, you're making them look wrong, so it's all your fault.

Alternately, because humans are CRAZY.

That said, it would be lovely if we could all focus on finding the BEST answer (life lending itself so rarely to absolute right/wrong) and giving partial credit for other good but not quite Best answers, wouldn't it?
