Abortion...but what kind of abortion?

I think that most everyone who will read this is pro-choice.
That said what kind of pro-choice?

Er, pleasepleaseplease don't use the term "partial birth abortion" for third trimester abortions. It's not the correct medical term (I think it actually describes a particular termination procedure, and I don't think it's the current medical term for that either) and is primarily used by pro-life/anti-choice folks because of its emotive connotations ("My God, the child is almost born!").

Maybe a bit over the top, that phrase. Apologies. But I did have that procedure in mind when I put the survey together.

Hmm, ok. Though I'm fairly sure it's only ever used in situations where the mother's life is in danger or there are foetal abnormalities incompatible with life outside the womb, eg anencephaly (or "not having a brain" to you and me), so wouldn't it be covered by option 1?

Well, I know it's used in some less than democratic countries as a population control device.

I do perhaps think I was overly hasty in putting that survey together and should have gone and read up more on third trimester abortions.

I think perhaps I got the procedure confused with inducing labour in second trimester.

My bad.
