This took quite some time, but mainly because I wanted to be sure this chapter was the best it could be. It's the moment we've been waiting for; what the heck is Layton up to and what is Luke hiding? Oh god, older!Luke!! And Layton reading the letter and getting distraught by it arrrrrrrrgh but his display of emotion in the office was just so... touching ;__; and I love the little "omg it's you hawk-eye!" "omg! fidget?!" conversation between them, it was awesome. XD It's so rare to see OCs being written this well.

And as usual, this story is... insanely complex. I don't know how your mind works this well to be able to plot this entire thing out and have it fleshed out and working so well, but it is amazing and seat-gripping and I really, really hope the next chapter gets put up soon. FOR ALL OUR SAKES. ;__; Epic fanfic is epic. XDD ♥

Glad you liked it so much! XD Fidget was a fun character to work with. Would you believe I made him up on the spot? There was like no planning at all behind him, just this sudden idea and remembering the bunch of boys from the first chapter and bam! Fidget is born. I'm glad he came out so well for being a spontaneous creation. (Expect him again soon, for altering the Professor's will).

As for plotting out the story, well, yes, it's insanely hard, so I have the help of my husband to make sure everything sounds good when read. But keeping it together, making it sound so Epic, that is something I've learned to do after a LOT of practice, trial and error. And a good amount of research too; I wanted the characters to really sound like themselves and yet, be different from how we're used to. I'll get started on the next chapter right way! Your fics are starting to make me teary-eyed, now... My word... ^^;

It's just... it's so complex and well thought out... just wonderfully done. Yet, a lot of times when I read a chapter from this fic, my chest feels heavy for the characters involved... Layton with his struggles to keep Luke from being taken away, Luke with his confusion about how his mentor may feel about him, Hershel with his conflicts about wanting to stay a rebel into his older years, Penford with everything... D:

Well, it was interesting that you decided to incorporate a blast from Layton's past - and the scene with them both, from the "Hey, I know you!" to the part where Fidget gets Layton riled up emotionally to see how much he cares for Luke...

And the letter from Don Paolo... my chest started aching at that...

Uuaahhh. I guess what I'm saying is that this fic is fantastic, but emotionally draining for me. XD; *Is delicate. :P*I'm sorry for reviewing so late - I didn't quite know what to say, is all

Oh Sh..nap, this is the last update! This is terrible!

The peace that's going on right now, I don't want it to end! D: And yet right before my eyes it is. I feel so sad!

Not with Don Paolo messing with things. And Layton and the gang getting awkward at a time when they need to be a solid team and family, otherwise, that sad future will come and it could be twisted into something far, FAR worse....
