So the other day, Alli and I got a chance to listen to a splendidly heretical guest sermon by Drew Farley, author of the recent book God Without Religion
Though, personally, I'm of the opinion that a good heresy never dies.
I mean, take Gnosticism. It's alive and well in the writings of Elaine Pagels - not to mention certain Mormon beliefs...
Antinomianism was another that pops up over and over again. It was in Corinth in Paul's day, it seems. It was all the rage in England in Wesley's day. Buddy-Christ "relationship-not-religion" (as if the two are incompatible opposites!) Christianity can easily tip over the edge to this most pleasant heresy - looks like here was a case where it did.
