Wow for once I don't agree with you! Huh feels kinda weird lol It's not that I didn't like the movie. I just found it overrated and a bit boring. Even if the cast was pretty convicing it still felt to me like a Hollywood prod that tries to be indie... Plus I just can't stand that they made such a fuss over this one while there's a bunch of more powerful gay themed movies out there that never got a chance to be seen by larger public coughGetRealcough
And we didn't have enough of naked Jake scenes

Heh. You know, I do agree with you that more gay-themed movies should be seen by larger public, but that was a damn good start. And when Crash won the best picture Oscar, I was so glad because I kinda felt that Brokeback must have been a little overrated and Crash was such a strong movie that it should have been awarded (Obviously, I hadn't watched Brokeback at that time). But after I watched this, I felt terribly sorry because they were both equally strong and it was obvious as hell that the Academy felt good by nominating a gay-movie, but not comfortable enough for awarding it. And that's a fucking shame. I know that you feel the same. :)

Actually with that I must agree... (damn and I thought for once we'll have a completely different opinions lol). What bothered me the most with BBM was the fact that it felt like it was the only gay themed movie ever made and it's more than harming to some small productions or amazing independant movies that were ignored for years b/c they were dealing with gay issues. I know that people will watch this one and maybe some of them will get hook up on subject enough to discover some real perls out there but I'm a bit afraid it'll be sufficient for most of them as a representive gay-themed movie. Which is not. I kinda felt empty afterwards. It was touching and well played I agree but it didn't make a difference, it didn't make my soul ache if you know what I mean. But funny thing at first I was so sure it's gonna get the Oscar that I found it politically correct to nausea but when it actually didn't I was disappointed lol
