As requested, Pike arrived at Jim's quarters at eight. He felt far less at ease then he had earlier in the day, after things seemed to be going out of control with his bond mate. Jim gave the command to open the door, looking up and seeing exactly whom he'd expected. He smiled in greeting, though it was a small smile, sensitive to the difficulties the man was enduring.

"Christopher," he said. "Thanks for coming."

Pike gave an incline of his head towards Jim, compacting the uneasy feelings that were left behind after his earlier discussion with Spock. "Jim." He crossed the room, eyes scanning as he debated the best place for their task. "I can safely presume you are prepared for our task tonight?"

"As much as I can be," Jim confessed. "Yes." He watched Pike's eyes rove purposefully about the room, letting him set the stage. He did not think Pike meant him harm, but he was slightly nervous just the same in that anticipatory way. The thrill of the unknown.

Pike finally gestured to the floor. The carpeting would do for minimal comfort during their task. "Do you know anything of meditation beyond its existence?" Pike questioned as he folded his legs, seating himself cross legged on the floor.
