It's been far, far too long since I've updated my journal. I disappeared from the online world, basically, and I apologize to everyone on my friends' list that I haven't been around to comment. I sort of disappeared from the world in general for a while, but I'm kinda skirting around the edge of it again. I've started taking an interest in things

Once Upon a Time is one of our favorite shows, and I like all the characters, really, both good and bad.
My father and I both recently re-read the Harry Potter books and I'm giving him the Blu-Ray Wizard's Collection set for his birthday this Wednesday.
I don't watch The Vampire Diaries, but Wheatear on my flist does and she's usually complaining about how they're handling the characters and ships this season; it reminds me of watching Supernatural or Merlin go downhill, but maybe it won't be as bad.

OUAT has a super solid cast, from the main to the recurring.
I love the look of that HP blu-ray set, but I've held out wondering if they're ever going to release extended editions in a set like that. It's awesome that he likes HP.
I've read the first few books a couple of times, but this will be my first time rereading DH, when I get to it.
TVD is really weird. I don't know if I can say it's gone downhill, but at the same time the decisions they've made with the characters (who they've killed, how much they're dragging their feet with the triangle)...it's not as strong as it used to be. I'm pretty hardcore Damon/Elena and have been since season one, but I'm not satisfied with how they're handling them now. And a part of me got burnt out due to the wheel spinning for so long.
Merlin went downhill? Crap. I've always thought about picking that one up to watch on dvd, like I did with the BBC Robin Hood series.
I tried to get back into Supernatural, but it's just a struggle. :(

I haven't actually seen more than the first season of Merlin, but everyone on my flist or whose blog I read who has seen the later seasons has complained about Morgana going straight from well-intentioned anti-heroism in her opposition to Uther to turning completely against all her friends without a real reason to hate them and losing all regard for innocent life and morality. Also, Arthur apparently never really unifies Albion onscreen, making that whole constantly-mentioned prophecy thing pointless, and Merlin being a warlock is a secret until the very end of the series, which is too long. You can certainly watch it and make up your own mind.
I gave up on Supernatural after "Abandon All Hope" and have never tried to get back into it, although I still hear what's going on. Killing off Jo and Ellen was a huge mistake.

I pretty much gave up on SPN around that time too. I loved Jo. I also loved Ruby. I liked a lot of the female characters and the treatment they got never sat well with me. SPN lost a lot to me when they started getting rid of all the interesting supporting characters. I loved Dean and Sam, but they need characters to play off of, otherwise they get boring (and outright annoying, which is how I tend to feel about them now).
I've watched on and off, but the love I had for it is entirely within those dvd sets of the first four seasons.
