Art v. Life

I remember when I could see a shadow on the road and find beauty in it. I remember when music sounded real and new every time I replayed that song. I remember when I could actively express myself through words. I remember when I could take a photograph and feel it. Where has that me gone? You can do both! Have you thought about doing a portriat series of some of your campers/patients people? Or potentially a photography project with them, encouraging them to capture (even with poloroids) how they see the world. You don't have to let one part die! Believe me, this is so important! I completely understand. I think the answer is not to choose between the two but to find a way to bring them together. I am so proud and jealous that you've found what you want to do and it's fulfilling and you're actually doing it! Now you just have to find a way to make all the parts of you happy. You can! I have faith!

One time, years and YEARS ago, I had a conversation with Travis's dad. I told him that I didnt feel creative anymore when I wrote. I told him that I had all these things around me, and inside me but I couldn't find that link between feeling and articulating. He told me something that has stuck with me. He said that even if I didn't feel it, or couldn't find the words that I needed to write anyways. Everyday, just WRITE. And one day, it would come ( ... )
