Tour Begins!

I was in Hartford, CT tonight for the first date on the American leg of the AMOLAD world tour. I'll be right up front on the most important thing about this tour. If you don't like A Matter Of Life And Death then THIS TOUR PROBABLY ISN'T FOR YOU.

They played the new album IN ITS ENTIRETY from front to back.

Setlist 10/04/2006:

1. Different World
2. These Colours Don't Run
3. Brighter Than a Thousand Suns
4. The Pilgrim
5. The Longest Day
6. Out Of the Shadows
7. The Reincarnation of Benjamin Breeg
8. For The Greater Good of God
9. Lord Of Light
10. The Legacy
11. Fear Of The Dark
12. Iron Maiden

Encore:
13. Two Minutes To Midnight
14. The Evil That Men Do
15. Hallowed Be Thy Name

The stage setup is beautiful, looking like the remains of a destroyed city. During Iron Maiden it was transformed into a giant tank with Commander Eddie at the helm. Commander Eddie came out and walked around the stage carrying a huge rifle during The Evil That Men Do.

There were some technical problems here and there, but such can be expected on the first night of a tour. I was rather disappointed in the typical American crowd once again as many people filtered out after Bruce confirmed that they'd be playing the entire AMOLAD album. Most of those that remained were silent (and many sat down) until the end of the show when some older songs were played.

Of the three tours I've seen, this one is my second favorite. I love A Matter Of Life And Death (after many listens), but not enough to really have enjoyed myself as much as I did at the Give Me Ed' Til I'm Dead tour.

Hope the rest of you have a great time if you're catching them on this tour! Listen to AMOLAD!

(I didn't watch Bullet For My Valentine. I bought their album many months ago and felt ripped off. Also, what I've read in the news about their personal conduct has led to a great disgust for them as a band. Most of the crowd tonight didn't watch them either. Some were even wearing Rob Zombie shirts. Hahahah)
