I'm afraid that trade, war, and politics will always be interlinked, much to the frustration of those of us who'd much rather stay out of the bloody things.

Don't get me started. Unfortunately, this is how I make my living: protecting and managing a shipping company. We travel by way of airship and it makes things even worse.

Oh, gods. Airship travel's bad enough when it's just transport, and I hear battles are worse than anything you'll come across on land or sea.

Now, if I may offer a bit of advice where politics are concerned--just take a post, something nice and obscure that doesn't pay well and doesn't put you in the way of anyone important. Hard to get sucked in when you're already on the boring part of the inside, if you take my meaning.

You're telling me. It's my wife's airship, she's really a fantastic pilot. So far we've had a bit of trouble but haven't missed a shipment yet. I'm going to make sure it stays that way.

Heh. Problem: I've already aided in taking down one government, helped the setup of its replacement, and was part of averting a war between that country and the one I live in now. May take your advice if things ever calm down.

Many of the palace's defenders use crossbows. Easier to use than regular bows, and they've a greater distance. I spent many an afternoon watching them practice. :D
