My grandmother woke up at 5:15AM, pointed to me and called me "ah boy", which is her pet name for me. In the time she was admitted last wednesday til today, she has made amazing progress, despite the cerebral edema (brain swelling), and the fact that the location of the stroke is located near the brain stem where the autonomous motor control ( Read more... )

Were you in the hospital room with her when she 'awoke"?

Yup, my mom was there as well.

She's no longer simply just sleeping, but the cerebral edema (brain swelling) is causing her to have massive headaches. I broke down when she looked at me in such pain and grasped my hand so very tightly.

I'm glad to hear she awoke and recognized you, that's a good sign. Also.. and I'm saying this still with all hopes she'll get better.. you've got a good memory right there.
