[ Appearance ] Puck is a slight young man with black and red dyed hair -- whatever colour it might've originally been is long since lost. It's usually worn gelled and spiky. His complexion is pale, emphasizing his petite bone structure and some have even referred to it as elfin. His outfits are almost unanimously black, highlighted by straps, metal buckles and studs. Puck's voice has an odd quality to it, oddly accented and it's not uncommon for people to inquire where he's from. Although under scrutiny he is almost always pronounced human, many people ascribe an "otherworldliness" about him.

[ Personality ] The first thing that strikes many people about Puck is his cynicism, for he carries the jaded views of someone much older than he appears. He rarely gives the benefit of the doubt to anyone, and seems always ready to believe the worst about a person regardless of the proof or circumstance. It's not that he dislikes humans in general, he just thinks they're incapable of being genuinely altruistic and that there must always be a gain for them to do anything positive.
Still, for all the changes the modern mortal world has inflicted upon him, Puck remains ever a trickster. Under the bitterness of his past, he cannot banish the fascination with humans that once was his hallmark. He does his best to hide it, but it is still discernible. As a creature of the Old World, Puck still carries a number of behaviors from that time period. While it's not exactly chivalry as one would define it in the present time, Puck is far from a crude person even when maintaining his persona.
The one thing that makes Puck forgo his cold and misanthropic attitude is music. A huge part of his life has always been dictated by it, and he continues that even hundreds of years later. He is the lead singer and guitarist of a semi well known rock band called Ironfright. Puck actually derives a tangible energy from being on stage, from the intensity of the crowd. In the middle of a performance is the only time Puck seems truly happy and free, as though only that moment exists for him; almost like a rapture. The members of that band are probably the closest thing to a family that Puck has, and he knows it. This means that although he still needs his distance, they tend to understand that he has his moods and not take it personally, giving him a comfort zone that he doesn't have around other people. In return, Puck displays protective traits about them.
As someone who lived under the rule and direct command of beings who were the ultimate Faerie authority, Puck has some serious authority issues and will often act out against anyone who tries to control him or dictate what he can do. Usually this is written off as part of his "band persona" although there have been some incidents with the law, which Puck has taken care of with a combination of money and magic, so as to not endanger his bandmates. However as an extension to his issues with authority, Puck also has a difficult time trusting anyone beyond the most basic courtesies. This is due in part to his immortal lifespan, and he views people growing old and dying as a personal betrayal even though he knows that it is both inevitable, and not their fault.
Puck is a formidable personality, and once he sets his mind to something, he won't easily back down from it. He often comes off as arrogant -- and he is, make no mistake of it -- he has some problems with how he views himself. Although he's actually able to craft his appearance through glamour to whatever he would like, he's also been in the same human form that it's started to overtake his actual fey form. So sometimes it feels like glamour to him, and sometimes it feels like an actual shell in which he's trapped. So though he knows it is necessary, he might appear to get irrationally angry at himself for no reason. Someone with the ability to see through illusions wouldn't see his full fey form any longer, but rather a grotesque amalgamation of his faerie and human forms.
This usually manifests in one of the many vices that he indulges in. Few sins are foreign to this trickster, although they usually run along the lines of the "Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll" vein. His physical relationships are shallow and strictly carnal-based, although this isn't to say Puck's licentiousness -- he's more often found indulging in booze than in the pleasures of flesh.
[ Strengths/Abilities ] The skill that Puck uses most often and which is most prominent to anyone that knows him is his skill in music. His original instrument of choice was panpipes, but he has quite fallen in love with both acoustic and electric guitars. He writes his own music and chords and is able to pick up and playback music after hearing it only once or twice. Likewise he has a reasonable skill with nearly any instrument he uses, he simply has preference for stringed ones now.
As a faerie, Puck has the birthright of fey magic which most notably include glamouring, the ability to mask, obscure, or alter the senses of humans. Some examples of this would be making things appear or disappear, planting or erasing some types of memories (player approved, of course) or creating minor conjurations. Other fey abilities include light telekinesis, commune with nature (though he rarely uses this any more) and under extreme duress, summoning of eldritch, a kind of otherworld lightning.
Many of Puck's non-magical abilities are a product simply from living as long as he has. Although his exact age is unknown (even to him) he is easily several hundred years old. Many of these skills are obsolete in modern times, but he retains them anyway and is extremely skilled with his hands.
[ Weaknesses ] Physically, his greatest weakness is the same as any faerie: cold iron. His body will reject it to the extreme, actually turning black and peeling at its touch. Iron in its lesser forms like steel don't give him as much trouble simply from his continued and repeated exposure to it, having lived in human form for so long -- so holding something like stainless steel cutlery wouldn't bother him, but being hit with an iron pipe would cause serious injury. His body behaves like a human's in most manners (he'll bleed as normal, get hangovers, catch a cold) but will simply heal more quickly.
However his psychological shortcomings affect him far more than the physical ones. His inability to trust people leaves him often stressed out and irritable, and his sleeping habits are almost non-existent. Puck does experience a type of PTSD brought on by the trauma of Avalon's demise and the knowledge that he is the only one left of his kind. Because he's always looking at people expecting to be let down, even things that should be easily enjoyed don't bring him much pleasure. As the last (known) living faerie, he experiences severe withdrawals from Avalon's magical energy and has to supplement it with energy derived from pleasing humans through music, which he he has a love/hate relationship with. Puck's biggest downfall is himself. He finds himself constantly caught in a state between hating his immortality and an inhuman drive to continue existing.
[ Notable Possessions ] Puck has several guitars in his possession, but his favourite is his
Gibson Les Paul. He often uses this one when composing his own songs.
【 BACKGROUND 】
[ History ] Puck is the trickster of legend, the infamous Robin Goodfellow of literary fame, though few would likely ascribe that title to him if they met him today. His history is long and begins not dissimilar to what was written of his life by Shakespeare. Born on the Isle of Avalon, Puck was part of the Seelie Court and served as a direct servant to Lord Oberon, the king of the Faerie, placing him considerably higher on the fey hierarchy than many. He was also known to attend the Lady Titania's whims (sometimes with Oberon's knowledge, sometimes not). Puck also served as an entertainer to the Court at large, both in a capacity as a skilled musician and storyteller and as an intermediary with the mortal world. He would often bring back human objects and make up ridiculous tales about their uses and origins.
This life continued for the Faerie until the 17th century, when a new threat to them arose. Since the Dark Ages (and possibly beyond, if rumour were to be believed) a group called the Illuminati had been policing the supernatural where it intersected with the human world. Judging that the Faerie Courts Seelie and Unseelie would eventually unite and attack humanity, the Illuminati plotted a genocide of the fey race to be executed with information they'd gathered. Only twice during the year did the two Courts mingle, during the Winter and Summer solstices. At Winter, the Unseelie Court would host the Seelie Court for a great feast in their domain, and at Summer solstice, the reverse would happen. During the Winter Solstice, the Illuminati forged their way to Avalon with an onslaught of cold iron, poisoning the very land itself and thus weakening the Faerie, who relied on the Isle for their life-force. The crippled fey were slaughtered with iron weapons, and the land itself was set ablaze, severing any link that might have remained.
Normally any faerie caught not attending the Solstice feasts would be subject to punishment, but Oberon's fickle temper ended up saving Puck's life. The faerie lord, perhaps annoyed or vexed with his gregarious servant's manner, ordered him away from the Court to fetch something trivial, which Puck was forced to obey. Only when he felt the link with Avalon extinguish did he realize something was terribly wrong, but by the time he was able to return, the Illuminati had already gone and left nothing but corpses and ashes behind them. Returning to that scene scarred Puck deeply, and forever changed how he would think of humans -- no longer where they just amusing and easily mislead pets to be indulged, but enemies.
Now without respite from the human world, Puck took many years to acclimate to wearing a human form nearly all the time, drifting aimlessly throughout the world. Although his hatred for humans in general dulled as time passed, his distrust and bitterness of them refused to fade. Sick with memories of his past, he came to the New World in the mid 1800's and explored, beginning to find solace in storytelling at first, and then again in music. In the present year, he has been in the "modern" music industry for about 20 years now, under various pseudonyms, his current being Rob Goodwynn. He formed Ironfright about three years ago and it has enjoyed moderate success.
