There's a file on the phlan y!g and a post in the archive by me - in essence, you get a small mechanical benefit related to your background; Mr Professor took the extra step of translating the Forgotten Realms backgrounds into "if you're this tall /type of character you can ride/take this background".

For simplicity (and yes, it's open to change, you know how Kami games are) I took the Waterdeep background (defined by Ami as "person living in New Phlan"), which basically gave you an extra language and a +2 bonus to Diplomacy.

Also, according to my numbers, you should have one more trained skill. I think it was Diplomacy, but you have plenty to choose from.

Also, one more language. Dwarven or Draconic seem the most likely choices, though Giant (includes Orcs) and Goblin would also be reasonable.
