Pirates of the Carribbean Review!

Aug 14, 2003 20:51

Well, not so much a review as a random selection of (occasionally sarcastic) comments... like all my 'reviews' I suppose.

Hmm... well... first... where to begin... hmm...

Okay, let's start with Orlando Bloom. :-D

Orlando's entrance into the movie was fairly droolsome. He kind of turned around and look who it is! Legolas with brown hair! Heh heh...

Okay, I love Orlando Bloom. I love Orlando Bloom. I love Orlando Bloom. Sorry, I just had to say that three times to excuse what I am about to say next:

He's not exactly an amazingly impressive actor. He acted straight from the script, he didn't make Will Turner his own. He was grand, I mean, he certainly wasn't bad or anything, he just, well... Blame Johnny Depp.

Because next to Johnny Depp's shuddering and eye- rolling Jack Sparrow (Oh sorry, Captain Jack Sparrow) Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn would have been a tad bland.

Hmm... now there's a duo I'd pay to see... but anyway...

Depp's entrance has raced to the top of my list of best movie entrances ever. Okay... okay, there wasn't actually a list, but there is now, and he's at number one. It was absolutely hee- lair- ee- us. Johnny Depp was absolutely hilarious. In fact, by the end of the movie, I was laughing just about every time Johnny Depp was on screen, and shuffling in my seat every time he wasn't. Now there's a good example of making a character your own. Genius- GENIUS I SAY!!!

Oh, oh, oh, the guy from 'The Office'! Gareth! He's fantastic.

That hat that Orlando was wearing at the end? What was with that? Hats don't suit Orlando, I thought we had that figured out after the phase he went through with that mangy yellow baseball cap. (See every photo shoot between last Christmas and summer.) A beanie hat would probably suit him though... okay, never mind, I'm veering of my point here!

Kiera Knightley was cool. She didn't blow me away, but she was grand... so was Geoffrey Rush... can I go back to talking about Johnny now?!

After all, it was Johnny's film. I mean, let's face it, would it be half as good if he wasn't in it? I think not. Fantastic. That was the performance of a lifetime, it really was. I'm still laughing when I think about him. Oh dear God, the man is some sort of demi- god. *worships Mr. Depp*

So yeah, I enjoyed it. *breathes huge sigh of relief*

Ooh... and I do still fancy the pants off Orlando, by the way! ;-)>/lj-cut>
