Character Background: Jade was born December 1, 1995. Or rather, she arrived on Earth that day. Her actual birthdate is April 13, but the whole ecto slime baby thing is John's deal, not Jade's.
She was adopted by a man known as GRANDPA and taken to live on a remote island in the pacific. There her new grandfather taught her the joys of hunting and ADVENTURE. He died of an unfortunate accident where everyone learned that babies shouldn't be allowed to dual-wield flintlock pistols. She stuffed him, as is family tradition, and spent the rest of her childhood with the company of her pet devilbeast dog, Bec. Which was fine with her. She adores animals.
Harley eventually met three other kids on an online messaging service called Pesterchum. They all proceeded to become best friends for ever and ever. Really. Jade loves her friends dearly. She trusts them completely and would even die for one of them if it meant saving their life( and she actually does so ). Jade is 100% positive that they would do the same for her. She sees past the barriers people put up. Whether it be Dave's aloofness or Karkat's constant RAGE, she sees them for who they are.
Out of the Homestuck kids, Jade acts the youngest. She is seen playing with toys and watching little kid shows. Her fetch modi ( a way to retrieve items from their inventory ) are all based on games like memory and pictionary. She is also the most cheerful, typing in bright green text and using lots of smilies and exclamation points :D!!!! She can be a little ditzy at times since her only contact with other people happens through the internet.
Before the kids began playing SBURB, it seemed like Jade was some sort of psychic. She would mention things before they happened or congratulate someone before they had something to celebrate. It turned out to be something caused by the game they would play. Jade had a dreamself ( think of it as a clone of yourself that wakes up when you sleep ) located on the moon of the golden planet of Prospit. From there she was able to catch glimpses of the future. She used this to help her friends progress.
Due to her narcolepsy, that might actually be caused by a certain troll, Jade spent much of her life on Prospit. She made friends with the citizens and basically frolicked and had fun. This might have helped her deal with the loneliness of living alone on an island. Until her dreamself died saving John from a falling moon. After that her dreams took place in "dream bubbles", which frightened her.
Uh oh! It seems that cheerful little Jade isn't always so happy. Her mood usually takes a nasty turn after those naps. Especially when dealing with Karkat and his ridiculous arguments with his past/future selves. Or even her own self! That's right. Jade prototyped her dead dreamself - which had been stuffed in the attic the whole time because of Weird Time Shit - to form Jadesprite. Except the sprite was nothing like her. While Jade is quite brave and determined, the sprite just cried.
...Alot.
Good job Jade. This was the best idea ever.
Since her sprite ended up being SAD and USELESS, Jade looked toward Kanaya for guidence because hey look! Trolls are actually pretty cool people. And this is where I'm pulling her from.
Abilites/Special Powers: Jade's title in SBURB is the "Witch of Space" and while what powers that specific title entails has yet to be seen, it could be guessed that it will have something to do with warping space. Although, she can keep track of any location around her using her spectagoggles. Like all Homestuck characters, Jade has a sylladex to hold all her items. Instead of having a fetch modus based on data structures, her modi are all based on games.
Her weapons of choice are rifles. Grandpa taught her how to shoot at a young age and she would rather be caught dead than leave the house without her trusty rifle! As a Prospit dreamer she also had access to the clouds of Skaia which project images of the past, present, and future. Her dreamself is already "dead" from where I'm taking her so she won't have this advantage anymore.
Third-Person Sample:
It was cold, but then it wasn't. The scenery had changed in a blink of an eye. How strange. Jade was sure she had been surrounded by snow and ice. Now there was only greenery and a large looming mansion. Had she fallen asleep again? Darn inopportune naps. They always happen.
She stared at the sky ( Not at the sun, mind you. That would be silly! ), concentrating. Nope, no giant monsters with tendrils here. This place was not a dream bubble. Thank god. Jade wasn't sure if her sanity could survive another encounter with those... things. How did Rose and Dave do it?
Oh.
Oh no!
Were John, Rose, and Dave here as well? Jade had never caught a glimpse of the mansion in the clouds. And one of the trolls would have certainly mentioned it if they had known ( or would they? ). It left an uneasy feeling in her stomach. She had to find them. She had to make sure they were okay.
Jade rushed to what seemed to be a large group of people. It turned out to be the masked vendors. Perhaps they could help, even if they were sort of creepy.
"Excuse me? Have you seen a boy with blue eyes and square glasses?" she asked the nearest one. He gave her no answer, just shoved a purse in her face.
" Yes that is a very nice bag, but I'm asking for help not clothes," she paused, "How about a guy with sunglasses? A coolki-- no no. I don't want a necklace. I just want to know if you've seen my friends!"
Again, no answer.
...This was going to be a loooong day.
