Yeah, the war's about Oil, what's wrong with that? Taking a pragmatist viewpoint to the matter, I can't really see an issue with it. Sure it sucks that people are getting blown up, but we need oil. Say what? Are you saying the protestors out there wouldn't protest if we switched our economy away from oil? Why the hell would they protest a move away from oil?

The thing about the protesters if we switched our economy from oil stems from the fact that for a while, perhaps a decade or two, everything would be expensive as hell. Gearing our economy, especially our energy industry away from fossil fuels will not be cheap. And speaking from an energy standpoint, since I am an engineer and all and kinda know what I'm talking about, the switch from oil to more renewable sources will be very costly. We have the technology today to do it, but developing it and producing it on a mass scale costs a lot of money. That money will come from one place, the people. Either through higher taxes or higher electricity costs. People don't like paying more. Just look at what happened in California a few years back when some spontaneous gouging occured. Except, this won't be gouging, and there won't be anything anyone can do about it till the new systems are up and running. So, people will be screaming like Chicken Little for a while.
