Top 10 justifications for buying an Xbox 360

Nov 19, 2006 03:29

I recently realized that I am more than likely to get an Xbox 360, at least long before I get either of the consoles launched this week. I have mentioned this to a handful of people, and most of them seemed surprised or confused. From this I have gathered that justifications for buying an Xbox 360 would make a good top 10. Thusly the gathering ( Read more... )

In that case you should probably get a Wii if anything. They'll be offering some amount of Genesis games in the online store for a few dollars each.

This is a good list. The only thing I'd change is Dead Rising much higher up because zombies are amazing and also maybe put Gears of War in there somewhere because it is apparently apeshit amazing.

To be fair, I probably should have put Halo 3 on there too, since some wacky people are already so excited about that that they're ignoring Gears of War. I could have made it a top 15 I guess. I just wanted to limit the colossal shooter aspect of the list since they receive so much attention already. Meanwhile Bioshock will probably go relatively unnoticed everywhere but my house.

Of everything up there, Bioshock is the one that might possibly maybe kinda make me sorta consider buying a 360. I've played a little bit of System Shock 2, and totally sucked at it and didn't see the big deal. I was scared, though. And people always rave about it. And the footage for Bioshock I've seen seems cool.

There's going to be a PC version if you're really set against getting a 360. I think my computer could handle it but I'll probably end up getting the console one for flavour purposes.

Woot. 640x480 @ 5 fps on my GeForce 6200. ;D

I'm not set against getting a 360. I'm just broke, now and for the foreseeable future. I'd love a 360. I'd love all the consoles. I'd also love something better than a $30 GeForce 6200, har, so I could see what this PeeCee gaming thing is all about.

Eh. I'll wait a while for massive pricedrops. No biggie.

I might put off getting the console itself but I think I'll start picking up games now, as good deals permit.

I was prepared to say "You forgot Culdcept" because everyone does by the time I got to number 2 and then it was number one. Hooray!

I never got a chance to play the previous ones due to them never being around when I needed them. I guess it's for the best though because it would probably be like owning Mojo and Mojo 2 and Mojo 3: the Mojonening. Now that my urge to Culdcept has finally risen to going out of my way to procure it levels I will get it and then we will beast party like it's 1997 and the Saturn version.

Well Culdcept on the PS2 is like the gem of my game collection, it is a heck of a lot of fun once you get some interesting decks, but that requires playing it for a bit. Although you get cards no matter what you do, playing single player, multiplayer, or fake multiplayer with only bots, the games can take a while if you set good sized goals. But it's funnest if it takes a while anyways, because that's when you get park place AND boardwalk and see the cash come reeling in :P

Culdcept Saga can't go far off since its pretty much the same style of gameplay. It is, in fact, the number one reason I've considerred geting a XBOX 360 (number 2 being just to spite the stupid PS3).

No number 2 is Lost Odyssey. To spite PS3 is like the pervading reality transcending representation. But the best non-game thing about it is probably how there isn't any danger of a game coming out in Japan but not coming out here since this is the real market.
