I think the only question is whether the risk of debt is worth the potential reward. At their core, most of the rest are fairly normal concerns for most adults, just turned up loud.

What's the certificate in?

Greek and Latin. I emailed some of the departments and it turns out the reason I was not accepted to any of these programs is because they don't think I've done enough reading. Columbia (and a few other places) offers a two-year certificate program I can take to get my languages up to snuff, and if I take it at Columbia I can get to know the faculty and probably get a leg up on PhD admission.

We have a friend who did that program - she LOVED it and is now in Boston University's PhD program with full funding. Just FYI!

Sounds to me like you have "adult" down pat - stressing over where we spend our money and our time is pretty much what everyone who has enough food and a safe place to sleep does.

I'm just selfishly grateful that you spend so much of your time doing art, whether that's comics or writing or drabbles.
