Things have been going pretty well @ Umass. Pretty much it is better than working at the WM, and while it can be stressful, for me it is more fulfilling. I work with another RA and live with 22 girls from all walks of life, and when working with the girls, it has been so much fun. I got to do a DIY t-shirt workshop, and i had almost 30 girls! they call us RA's and pretty much that's what we do (like the interns @hampshire) but since the program consists of high school kids, there is more supervision. so it's a combo of pre-college program, and summer camp. it's a 5,000 prgram for 5 weeks, so we put a lot of effort to have activities to entertain them when they are not in class. half the kids take college credit courses offered by Umass, and the other half take classes that are taught by faculty hired by the program. The RA's do programming each week, and mine always revolve around diy/arts and crafts type of stuff. It're pretty good. the pay is like a summer camp, but it's better than working retail. How is you camp?

i was kinda hesitant at first because religion really scares me, but everyone here is so super chill. i'm still weird art girl , but i think i'd be that anywhere. you're program sounds really good though. is there any way i could do that next summer? i was already an arts and crafts counselor, and i'm psychotic about the DIY crafts (i should show you my budding stencil collection when school starts again)

totally. they usually like RA's to be 20-21 + and I know that most of the staff here are my age (21) or older. 300 a week + room and board. it's not too bad. there is actually a lot of westchester representation... one of my girl's mom help create the "Got MIlk?" campaign, and another's mom created the cosmetic line for Prada, and is currently second in line in marketing for AVON. it's intense. but the girls are teens, they have drama, and such ohter things...but they make it so worth it.

Way to make me feel bad about my updates! But seriously, it's good to hear that things are well with you love. Remember, under 18 constitutes statutory rape [if anyone finds out--wink wink].
