Yeah, text-only is really hard, and FB/twitter/etc make it harder since you're encouraged to use as few words as possible. After having my share of... discussions... on FB, I've come to realize that it takes quite a lot of care to strike the right tone from the beginning.
That being said, a simple "sorry, that came out way more snarky than I had intended" should cover things, and if that's not enough for GP, oh well.
Facebook is a really crappy medium for conveying meaningful communication. Does it work for you any better here on LJ? Because for what it's worth, we would be interested in communicating more, but we also struggle pretty badly with giving the right impressions. (Saying we, here, because on LJ we identify as multiple. That in itself is a strategy to systemize communication and break it down into more stable parts so that it can be more easily debugged. Heh, tech artist by trade.)
Anyway, just saying I understand, I get it, you've got my sympathy.
