A Dad's Observations...

For those of you who don't know, I have two boys that I call my own, one 10, one 6.  Only Joshua, the 6 year old, is biologically mine, but Ian is definitely my son, I've raised him since he was two, and he hasn't known anyone else as Dad.  I love him so much more than I know how to say ( Read more... )

I definitely understand. James and I started dating when Trin was just shy of 2 years old, so she has grown up knowing "Mommy's house" and "Daddy & Mel's house". So I understand when you say sometimes biology absolutely doesn't matter. :)

There are so many ways in which this is true. In the case of me and Ian, Ian has never known anyone else as Dad. I am the only father he's ever known, and I literally can't think of him as anything other than my own. I've tried to consider it. It doesn't compute. More than that, he's just an awesome kid. One of the sweetest, most caring kids his age I know. Love that.
