The Imperial Consort
Princess Irulan Corrino-Atreides is the daughter of the former Padishah Emperor Shaddam IV and wife (in name only) of Paul 'Maud'dib' Atreides and because of the events during the Children of Dune, Irulan broke away from both her family (House Corrino) and the Bene Gesserit. She is also the stepmother of the Atreides twins, Leto II and Ghanima. Irulan is loyal to House Atreides and is very protective of the twins.
Irulan served in the Royal Council as adviser first to Paul and then to Alia in both cases she served as a moderating voice in the council. She was never crowned as Empress was bitter about that (and the bit about being married in name only might have something to do with that too) for many years causing a lot of stupid decisions on Irulan's part such as poisoning Chani with a contraceptive. Fortunately, Paul actually thought this action saved Chani's life and gave Irulan the only kindness he ever bestowed her, a second chance and a parting kiss.
Irulan attended Fandom High in her youth but was summoned home before she could finish her schooling but after many years of caring for her stepchildren and awaiting for the arrival of grandchildren Irulan decided to return to Fandom.
It's been some time (decades) since she's been to Fandom and because of the awesome powers of Prana Bindu and Spice (must flow!) she's 50-ish years old but doesn't look a day over 25. This might be the primary reason why little sister Wensicia hates Irulan. Unlike her stepchildren she doesn't have the blue within blue eyes of the Fremen but her eyes do have a tinge of blue in them. More info on Irulan here
Personality and abilities
Irulan is still very proper but she's also mellowed in some ways and became more formidable in others. In terms of fighting Irulan is far better at knife fighting now than when she first appeared in Fandom, simply because Stilgar, the leader of Sietch Tabr, won't have the twins' guardian slacking. She's not as good as Leto or Ghani but she could give the Fedaykin a run for their money although it doesn't mean she'll advertise it. In terms of physical activities... Irulan isn't what you would call dedicated. She would practice but its not something she'll do everyday, in fact since returning Irulan has yet to venture to the gym. This is because Irulan thinks herself as an Academic and diplomat than a fighter. Although, if she hears you messed with her grandchildren she will end you. Not that they'd need protection but it won't stop her from issuing threats and actions against someone trying to seriously hurt her kids.
One of the skills Irulan picked up in Fandom is how to use handguns, care of Jack Harkness. She's a good but its been years since she's used a gun. Irulan still has an immunity against poison of any sort, thanks to her very paranoid upbringing, thankfully, she doesn't lug around a poison snooper anymore.
Because Arrakis is a lot more relaxed than Kaitan (the former Imperial planet), Irulan no longer wears her fancy hats.
Does that mean Irulan's given up wearing them?
BWAHAHAHAHA Right. Clearly, you don't know Irulan.
The Imperial Brim
The Imperial Brim is a hat shop that caters to everyone offering any and all hats in existence. Because of Irulan's obsession love of hats she opened up a store. The last time she was in Fandom she discovered a large number of people don't wear hats. She feels that this is a wrong that must be rectified and the rest, as they say, is history.
Irulan doesn't really need the shop to generate income, its only something to pass the time and as such if anyone drops by the shop there is a 90% chance they'll be given a hat. For free. Irulan sometimes forgets that owning a shop means selling a hat and not giving them away. Oops.
It might have to do with her mission wish to see everyone in the Fandom wear hats.
The Imperial Brim is open every Monday, Wednesday and Saturdays.
