[ England had been remarkably capable of handling himself quite well for the past week or so. Certainly he sulked by hiding under his blankets, but he did that with pride. Or at least a respectable-looking blanket. But on the 21st day at the fourteenth hour at thirty-three seconds, as he realised he had written nothing but the word SOCKS1 for the ( Read more... )

[Some munching on cookie dough, and then sounds of harder nibbling as he begins to eat a pen. And then he hangs up.]

Knock you up. You... May want to think about the choice of words, England.

[And on a more serious note;]

Is your economy in rough shape?

You're free to do that, too, Norway. Don't think I'm excluding you or anything.

My economy is... well, it was in bad shape, but it hasn't particularly made any significance here. It's just the pollen. Bad weather lately for me, you know how it is, with the sun and flowers and all.

I'm afraid I don't understand. I don't like you in that way, and you're a man. It's impossible to knock you up even if I wanted to. [Oh you silly Englishman and your slang.]

I didn't know you were allergic to pollen.

... Well, you don't have to visit if you don't want. It's not like I'm hurt or anything. But I wouldn't say it was impossible, not if you got up early enough.

It just brings a little industrial revolution into my eyes, that's all.

Are you sulking about something?

[Blunt as usual]

Not at all. I'm feeling quite young and chipper.

[This phone call is being placed as he sulks under a blanket so butthurt]

[OH HE KNOWS]

Sounds as though you might be feeling old and cranky to me.

I'm not old. And it hasn't been raining so my knees have feeling just fine.

That is probably the worst choice of words ever.

Nonsense, it sounds quite right to me. Gets the message through. A firm acknowledgment of my well-being while still accepting callers. And all said in a very polite tone.

With the use of euphemisms?

Oh, Aisling.

Nothing's wrong, nothing at all. It's just been too bright to visit out, you see, so I wouldn't want anybody to make a fuss over my absence.

wolf_faerie June 21 2010, 22:37:59 UTC
Well, if you're not in the mood to visit anyone, maybe I can visit you.

Oh, well, only if it was an emergency. My house is a bit of a mess at the moment.
