Character Name: Shibuya Yuuri
Series: Kyou Kara Maou
Timeline: Episode 82 - excluding OVAs
Character History:
Once upon a time, there was a Japanese boy named Shibuya Yuuri. Yuuri was a very special boy whose destiny rested on the fact that, at the age of fifteen, he would be flushed down a toilet.
This is the beginning of the epic and fucked up fairy tale called Kyou Kara Maou.
Yuuri was destined from the very start to be the twenty-seventh Maou (demon king) of Shin Makoku. They even picked out a shiny special soul for him and everything. Carried by messenger to Earth, Yuuri's soul was born to Shibuya Shouma and Miko ("Jennifer") as their second son. Despite his mother's eccentricities and love of putting him in a dress against his will, Yuuri grew up to be a frighteningly normal boy that loved baseball. His normalcy throughout the series is what makes him often seem so goddamn weird.
So one day, riding his bike home from school, he sees a boy from his class - Murata Ken - being picked on by some local bullies. Yuuri, ever so valiant (pfft.), stops and tries to help him. Of course, the moment the guys are distracted, Murata ditches Yuuri and runs off. Angry that they lost their target, the bullies give poor Yuuri a swirly in the ladies restroom.
And he gets flushed down the toilet.
And arrives in another world where everyone adores him and crowns him their king. IT MAKES SENSE OKAY.
After finding out about his intended role in the new world (and gaining a daughter and accidental fiancé along the way whoops hi Wolfram), Yuuri strives to better his country, save the world from imminent destruction yadda yadda yadda it's a good show you should watch it sometime, and become known as the greatest and most powerful Maou that has ever lived.
Yuuri is an idealistic justice freak with just a dash of stubborn childishness. Despite this, in a situation where he isn't upset or stressed, he comes across as very... Normal. And down to Earth. He does have a tendency to babble and spout random pop-culture references, though. He's strongly against war and killing, but don't be fooled into thinking he's a total wimp (YEAH WOLFRAM SEE THIS IS THE PART YOU SHOULD READ). He's not above slapping someone for insulting his mother (you don't punch a face that pretty k :<) , or punching a coach for going overboard when yelling at one of his teammates.
So yeah. Fairly normal kid when he's on Earth. Dorky, trivia freak, a bit naive at times, but altogether friendly. He has a sharper wit than most would expect, and intelligence-wise he's pretty damn smart. (I believe it's mentioned that he didn't have to study to get into high school, and for a Japanese kid, that's pretty awesome. >.o)
But sob. Wolfram still calls him a wimp and bullies him. :(
He's taken from the end of episode 82, like Wolfram, where he has already decided to be the Maou permanently and has already come of age - and is therefore 16, now.
Abilites/Special Powers: In his normal wimpy form, Yuuri possesses strong healing abilities but little else. He's a baseball player and fairly athletic, but his swordsmanship is terrible. When he is greatly angered by corruption or violence happening around him, however, he transforms into the Maou, a justice-loving godmod type that controls water serpents and yeah. Beats the bad guys in non-violent ways. 8D It's implied in later episodes that he may be able to change at will, but he doesn't really abuse his abilities anyway, and he never kills people. Finally, he travels between Earth and Shin Makoku at will by touching water, which won't work here, but he'll try.
Third-Person Sample: So it was settled, then. He was now the Maou, for good, and no one else was going to contest it. It wasn't exactly what he'd call calming, but... reassuring. Yeah, he liked the sound of that. He actually had a set course somewhere, even if he was still a little young to have such a future planned out for him, and he was still just a high school student, and.
The baseball bounced back down from the ceiling and he caught it inches from his face, much closer than his depth perception had made him expect.
And... he could still come home like this from time to time, and actually get some time to reflect on things and keep his mind in order. No Günter to parade in and drag him off somewhere, no Gwendal to make him uncomfortable with overly-direct questions stares, and best of all, no Wolfram to come in and nag him about spending time with--
The door flew open, causing Yuuri to jump and, of course, the baseball fell from yet another toss and caused a hollow noise to rattle from the side of his head. "Na, Shibuya, we do have practice today, and as your manager Murata Ken we should probably--"
R-right. Murata, coming to drag him off somewhere. He should probably get ready to--
"Ken-chan, Ken-chan, don't take him yet, I haven't ask how Wol-chan enjoyed his gift~!"
H-his mother to come and ask direct and awkward questions, and--
"You're here again, friend of my brother? Just when Yuu-chan finally had some free time to learn some things from his older brother--"
...And Shouri, coming to nag him about spending time with him.
W-wouldn't he ever get any peace?
First-Person Sample: This isn't-- Well, it kind of looks like some fancy place in Shin Makoku, like Stoffel's castle, or something, but... A-a laptop? This doesn't make sense-- This is just like the one I have at home, only without Shouri messing it up with po--
......
Er. Nevermind. E-either way, I should probably check this place out and figure out how I messed up getting to Earth. And where in the world Murata went.
