Ahhh today was TOLL.

I went to Berowra with the fantastic Leah and the princess-like Michelle to meet up with the electrifying Rhi. Unfortunately we were unable to meet Harry Chen, Ben Toyer, Claypole, or Kyle Husband. Yeah it was toll.

First they put my hair into some girly fashion. Then they put hairspray etc. into my hair to make me look like some kind of fool. My hair was completely vertical off my head. Yes thats right, completely vertical. They thought it was funny ... I thought it was pretty funny too until I had to get it out.

Me with girly hair (yes I looked like Björk)

Me with said vertical hair (it felt like a trolls hair too)

Me after trying to get it out

great times...

Oh and I went on holidays to Hill End, an old gold mining place which suffered from the gold rush. Its a really scary place, I'd advise to shoot a horror film there. There are no streetlights except for one outside the police station which, like all of the other buildings is an old, falling down creepy place which God himself would not dare to enter. Its a bit of a hole really -- there is no mobile phone reception for ages, there are only around 8 buildings in town, and a further 20 houses. There is only one hotel, and only one restaurant (the one restaurant is the one inside the hotel). There is a General Store across the road from that, they are also a milkbar. There is a petrol pump on the side of the General Store. The price there was 128 cents per litre.

There was also a Royal Hall next to the aforementioned Royal Hotel -- but it didn't look very royal. It was pretty much the landmark for the public toilets to the side. The hall looked like it hadn't been used for about 60 years. The other buildings in town were 3 (THREE!) churches, "Hosies" (a B+B and antique shop), the police station and the school. It was kinda sad. The buildings are all ages apart, because there used to be many many buildings in between, but they all fell down and during the depression the material from them was taken for coal mining etc. and lots of the buildings were demolished because of safety reasons etc..

We happened to go a-holidaying on the weekend when they opened all of the old houses, particularly Craigmoor -- a beautiful old Gothic/Tudor style house which some family lived in. It was also kinda creepy. I'll let you find out about that... I can't be bothered to write more about it. Most of the buildings were from around 1870-1875, the peak for gold mining in the town was 1972, when the town had 5 banks, 8 somethings, 82 houses, etc. etc. heaps of stuff.

The guy who "introduced" us to the house was funny.

* "Got ABC here on VHF 3 with a bit of ghosting -- the shadow of Bald Hill. Can't get rid of that though..."
* "If you brought along any records [vinyls] you can play them here."
* "Can't use the fireplace in here, no chimney."
* "Oh, and tell the kids not to jump on the septic tank, its only fibreglass."

You probably don't find it funny but it was hilarious to us. Poor guy, he sounded like he was trying to get rid of the "ghosting" on Channel 2 for years and years. He kept looking at us a little funny because we were all trying hard not to laugh. Now you all think I'm lame. Anyway...

The first night I stayed up late reading Who's Best And Worst Dressed of 2001. Then late at night I was awoken by a steady, ear-drum-blastingly loud dripping from a tap on the other side of the house. Yes, the other side of the house. It was so loud I could have screamed. I was absolutely terrified by the house so I didn't have the guts to get up and turn it off. But thats OK. The scariest part I thought was that every 3 or so drops it wouldn't hit the basin, it would drip but not make a sound. Rhi later told me that that was because of the water gathering in the basin and those drips would be dripping into the puddle of water in the basin until the surface tension was broken. But it was scary while I was there and I could fathom no way that science could explain it. Also there was some weird noisey thing.

The second night I wasn't so scared. Again, I read Who and some of Woman's Day. Great stuff. There was also That's Life and TV Week but they are both ultra-crap.

That concludes my post.

love from Isaac
