Prompt:
Picture prompt. Looking for Baggage That Goes With Mine
Bobby tries not to bring baggage with him when he's with Carrie. He just brings wine and, depending on what they're doing, DJ. But there's something about her, something that's so warm and open, that by halfway through the date he ends up telling her what's on his mind anyway.
She's always so calm and understanding, even when he's telling her things that would make other women run for the woods.
That would make anyone run for the woods.
Sorry I didn't call yesterday, I was in Montana fighting a cadre of rogue Sentinels. Remember the Sentinel Program? Woo boy, let me tell you...
Oh, it's my friend Rogue's birthday. I dated her mother. She shot my arm off. What do you get for someone in that kind of situation?
I had another fight with Adia. I think this was it, she told me not to go to Charlie's birthday and that I can't see him anymore.
Hey, would you mind having dinner with my ex, Lorna, her husband, and her kid? Uh, yeah, that Lorna.
Nothing seems to phase Carrie. She's dating a mutant. She's dating a mutant with some serious relationship issues, not just from the most recent relationship, but with past relationships as well. She puts herself in danger just being close to him, which he told her after their third date. And then she takes all his baggage on like it's nothing.
"I think you're great," he tells her as they lay in front of a fire. It's cold, because it's summer in San Francisco, and the weather hasn't changed to the warmth of autumn yet. "I don't know how you deal with me."
She smiles at him and touches her fingers to his temple, pressing against the edge of his hairline. He thinks it's sort of amazing when she does that, but he doesn't want to give everything away so soon. A guy's got to have some mystery. "I think you're great too, Bobby, that's how I deal with you."
He remembers what Drake told him, and he smiles at her. "At least tell me you've got a stalker ex, or you've got a sixth toe on your right foot, or something."
Carrie laughs. "No, I don't have a stalker ex, but I have an ex named Bobbi-with-an-i that's a woman. And you've already seen my toes."
"A woman?" Huh. Bobby's not bothered, and not really surprised. Carrie seems like the type of person that just loves and dates and doesn't care about the rest. He would really think she's a hippie except she's not. At all. She's just... perfect. He hopes she doesn't end up shooting off one of his arms, but he has a distinct feeling that's not going to happen with her. "Maybe you have a thing for Bobbys."
She smiles and leans in, brushing her lips across his as her hand drifts to the back of his head, combing through his hair. "Maybe I do."
Bobby's starting to think maybe he has a thing for Carries.
