I haven't ever participated in one of these auctions. What is the procedure? I mean I know you bid, and then what?

It depends. If you're going the route of a V-gift for 3 icons, then you can buy that via LJ. They're eating the CC charges and donating to either Red Cross or Doctors w/o Borders. I contact you privately to find out what you want, make some rough approximations, send you the link, and we go back and forth until you're satisfied.

If you're bidding on the larger group of icons (I'm not clear on if that has closed or not. It's my first time, too.) then the winner sends me the proof of having donated to a Japan-helping group and we go from there. I think, though, that's closed as selmak already sent me her proof of donation and I've made her the icons.

It's my responsibility to report the proof of donations to the organizers of the group so they can tally it up and report in a spreadsheet.

I wasn't sure whether the auction part was closed and/or how that interacted with the you-just-buy-it part. I need to finish gaming stuff and then, I think, I will buy you a V gift. (And consider what I want icons of.)

You're welcome to jump into the auction if you really want to. I'd happily make more icons. I figured that anyone who wanted to bid for that already had? It's actually cheaper to do the V-gifts at 3/$2.99 until you get to whatever number you want rather than bidding in the auction. I underestimated the willingness of people to spend money or else I'd have offered more than 10 icons. I offered selmak more than 10, obviously, and I'm happy to do the same for you.

Seems easiest to me to do via V-gifts. though. Whatever makes you happy is good from me. I'm just doing the icons. :D
