Thanks for voicing that. I couldn't tell if my tears were from hilarity or terror. I think I am willing to admit that, indeed, they were from terror.

I started in theatre when I was six. And sadly, almost all children's theatre is musical theatre. No matter how much I hated it, how schlocky and sappy and horrible the production, I was in at least three runs every year. From local community theatre productions all the way through children's ACT.

George M Cohen, Irving Berlin, Rodgers & Hammerstein and Meredith Wilson raped and soiled my childhood. I will never be clean again and I can't stand musical theatre to this day.
