I find the MTA Strike incredibly selfish.
7 million people with no public transportation.
Shitty Shitty MTA.
Way to comprise the security of the entire city.

Maybe it's because I am the son of someone who has had to go on strike numerous times, but I think the people complaining are the selfish ones. I've read some articles and seen some news coverage, and people were given fair warning about what was due to happen, the demands weren't met, and they followed through. Often that's the only way to force someone's hand. I coudl elaborate, but the constraints of livejournal make it inappropriate to write a full diatribe.

So 7 million people suffer?
The security of one of the largest cities in the world is compromised?

Maybe I'm missing something, but how is the security compromised? Isn't public transportation the number one target of terrorists?

And what about the workers, are their problems less important than the problems of those they serve?

Yes.
on this scale, their problems are less important.
