It has been a week since Yuto entered the mansion and to tell you frankly everything is just normal. Well except for the fact that Ryosuke avoids Yuto everywhere. When they're having dinner Ryosuke would make sure he finishes before Yuto would arrive back home or if they do eat together he would eat faster and finish faster.
The house has a rule that every Sunday they would all have to clean the house. Ryosuke is asthmatic so dusting is not allowed for him. There are 3 floors in the mansion and in each floor a pair is assigned to clean. Ryosuke begged Kei that week not to pair him up together with Yuto and of course Kei understands but he also has to be fair so he warned Ryosuke that there will be a time both of them will be paired up together.
"Guys! Let's have some snacks!" Kei called out on the pool side. This was always their routine every Sunday after cleaning the house they would enjoy some snacks at the pool side.
"Coming!" He heard Hikaru replying from the third floor window. The third floor is actually like an attic where they store all their old things and that is the place Ryosuke is never seen because of the clutter and dust everywhere.
All of them came down and went to the pool. They made a stop in the kitchen to wash their hands before so.
"Sugoi. Did you make this Inoo-chan?" Daiki asked in awe. A variety of pastries were served on a silver platter. There were tarts, cupcakes, small cakes, cookies, brownies and even sandwiches; and also some Earl tea was served.
"Nope. Ryosuke made all of these." They were amazed and couldn't wait to dig in. They sat on a rounded glass table and Kei gave each one of them a small plate and a fork.
"I didn't know you were good in baking." Daiki nudged Ryosuke and teased him a little.
"You never asked." Ryosuke just replied casually.
"Wait. Where's Yuto?" Yabu looked around and realized someone was missing. He turned to Hikaru because they were paired up in the cleaning.
"He said he had a date and went on ahead." Hikaru explained. Ryosuke actually looked disappointed but he didn't realize it himself. It was Kei who noticed that he was quite down after hearing the news from Hikaru.
"Well anyway, Let's not make this longer! Everybody dig in!" All of them started to pick what they would like to eat first. Some of them took some time in picking but Ryosuke was sure what he was gonna choose; the strawberry tart.
The five of them continued on chatting along. They told stories of how their week were. They don't meet together everyday so Sunday is always their bonding time and catching up with each other. Then at night they end it up with a movie in the small theater.
"What movie should we watch tonight?" Daiki put up the topic. They had a lot of ideas then Kei suddenly spoke up.
"Why not let Yuto pick?" He said interrupting all of them. They looked at Kei with blinking eyes and complete silence.
"What? You're not planning to exclude him in everything we do?!" He added. Yuto and Ryosuke did have something in the past but doesn't mean they should exclude him out. He is still part of the house and everything they do that involves it should have everyone involved in too.
"Is he coming home tonight? He spends most of his time with Chinen and he even comes home after the curfew." Hikaru broke the silence first. It was true that Yuto spends most of his time with Yuri and he even sometimes brings him to the mansion with permission from Yabu of course. But there was a time he went home at 1 in the morning and as he got in he saw Yabu sleeping on the couch.
"Why don't you ask him? You have his number right?" Daiki turned to Yabu to ask. Yabu nodded his head then fished out his phone from his pocket and tried reaching Yuto.
"Moshi moshi?" Yabu said as soon as he heard the other line picking up.
"Who is this?" Yuto asked from the other side.
"Yuto? It's Yabu."
"Ah Yabu-kun? What is it?" He replied.
"Hai. I just called to ask what time are you coming home tonight?" Short silence was heard on the other side.
"l won't go above curfew. Don't worry." Yuto replied.
"That's not it. We have this weekly movie watching and we were wondering if you could join us since you're part of the house already." Another silence was heard. Yabu thinks that he is still discussing it with Yuri even though he has nothing to do with it except being Yuto's boyfriend.
"Can I bring Yuri?" This time it was Yabu who went silent. He covered the microphone of his mobile device to talk to the others.
"Can he bring Yuri?" He asked in a whisper. The four of them looked at each other and then landed their eyes at Ryosuke who was hanging his head low playing with the hem of his shirt. Kei saw him not paying attention so he elbowed him lightly.
"Eh? Nani?" He jolted surprisingly. He also got surprised that all of them were looking at him.
"Nani?" He asked again. He didn't know why they were looking at him. He had different thoughts in his mind so he didn't paying attention earlier.
"He's bringing Yuri with him. Is that fine with you?" Kei said softly so that they won't be heard by Yuto. They all saw Ryosuke's eyes widen and thought he was surprised by what he heard. Yabu can already conclude what he should say.
"Yuto? Are you still there?" Yabu asked the other line.
"Hai. I'm still here. So what did Ryosuke say?" Yabu forgot what he was about to say for a minute there. How did he know that they consulted Ryosuke for something like that.
"I assumed since I know how much you'll protect him and you went out for a long time." Yuto added.
"Is that so. Well it's not that we don't like Chinen-kun but we would like to bond as housemates sometime and Sunday is the only day we could hang together." Yabu explained through the phone. If he wasn't mistaken he heard a sigh on the other line. Does that mean Yuto will decline their offer? He still doesn't know?
"I understand. I'll be home by 7 so wait for me okay?"
"Okay. Thanks." They both ended the call. Yabu returned his phone on the table and faced everyone.
"He's still coming to watch the movie." They all nodded. They were happy that Yuto said yes to them. Especially Ryosuke who looked like a big weight was removed from him. He actually showed a small smile but he tried keeping it in.
"Ryosuke, can I ask you something?" They were already done with their snacks and Ryosuke and Kei were washing the dishes. Kei was washing them and Ryosuke was drying them out.
"What is it?" Ryosuke said still continuing on drying the dishes.
"Do you still love him?" Ryosuke almost drop the plate with Kei's sudden question.
"E-eh? Why would you ask me that?" He was stuttering and it was a bad sign. Kei is as sharp as a hawk. Nothing can get pass through him.
"You always feel sad when he's not here, you don't want him spending time with Chinen and you try to avoid him but you're holding back aren't you?" Kei explained everything he's noticed about Ryosuke's behaviour since Yuto came. It was the first time Ryosuke made pastries for everyone since a year ago. Kei thinks he was looking forward to Yuto eating what he baked.
"I don't know. I have to hate him for lying to me but I just can't. I can't even forget him. I'm so pathetic aren't I?" Ryosuke gave out a sigh. Kei patted him on the shoulder and wrapped his arm around Ryosuke giving him some sort of motherly hug.
"Is it wrong for me to love him again? For me to still love him?" He faced Kei with a confused look. He was really having mixed emotions about everything and he doesn't know what to do or how to deal with them.
"I don't know if it's wrong but I just want you to follow your heart and it'll lead you to what you desire the most." Kei's words always calmed him down. He really knows what to say in every situation everyone of them faces. Maybe that's why Yabu fell for him because he was always caring and loving and he always sees the good in everyone.
"Thank you" Ryosuke gave Kei a hug then they returned back to cleaning up the kitchen area.
"Hey Hikaru, I've only been here for 3 months so I don't know anything about what happened a year ago. Could you tell me?" Daiki and Hikaru were still at the pool side enjoying the view of nature.
"Hmm. Sure. I think it's good if you know so you won't look confused about everything that's happening between those two now."
It all started in high school. Ryosuke and Yuto were both seniors and they were classmates too since the first year of high school. Yuto would causally talk to Ryosuke and Ryosuke would reply short answers. Then Yuto asked for his number and Ryosuke gave it.
They started texting each other until Ryosuke found it comfortable talking to Yuto in text and in person as well. They had this kind of relationship for 3 months until Ryosuke suddenly confessed to Yuto and he accepted Ryosuke's feelings. They went out for 8 months only but those 8 months were the happiest we've seen of Ryosuke.
"Why did they break up?" Daiki interrupted Hikaru for a sec.
"I'm getting there. Wait." Daiki shut his mouth again and let Hikaru continue.
One day Ryosuke saw Yuto kissing another guy behind his back. Ryosuke went up to him and slapped him across his face. Ryosuke asked him why he did that and Yuto could only answer with the most hateful response ever.
"I don't love you anymore." Those words slipped from Yuto's lips and Ryosuke was torn. He ran towards us and he had the worst asthma attack he had in his whole life. He was even sent to the hospital for it.
"But what does Chinen-kun have to do with this? Was he the one Yuto kissed behind Yama-chan's back?" Daiki asked Hikaru and he nodded his head.
"but it wasn't only that, Chinen Was Ryosuke's best friend. " Daiki felt like he was stabbed in the heart. What hurts more than a best friend who betrayed you? If Daiki felt hurt just hearing it how much more Ryosuke felt when he was the one betrayed.
"But I think now Ryosuke's trying to get hurt again." Hikaru added. It wasn't Kei who only noticed this sudden change in Ryosuke; even Hikaru knows and maybe Yabu does too.
"He's falling again?" Daiki asked in a surprised manner. He thought Ryosuke would already despise him for what he has done. I mean that's how it's suppose to be.
"He is falling again and it's something no one can stop." Hikaru said giving a sad smile. The three of them, Yabu, Kei and him always protected Ryosuke but love is something they can't protect Ryosuke from.
It was almost 7 in the evening and the others were waiting in the mini theater for Yuto to arrive. Ryosuke was still in the kitchen making the popcorn since the movie hasn't started yet. He poured his second batch of corn inside a pot and suddenly the door opened. Ryosuke took a look to who it was and he was met face to face with Yuto. They stared at each other for a while. This was the first time they looked at each other face to face since Yuto has arrived in the mansion.
"Where are the others?" Yuto asked breaking the silence between them.
"Oh. Um... they're in the mini theater waiting for you." Ryosuke answered while trying to hold everything in. He didn't even breathe while he answered Yuto.
"What are you doing here then?" Yuto asked him again.
"I'm making some..... THE POPCORN!" Ryosuke ran back to kitchen but stopped halfway when he saw the popcorn popping everywhere.
"What should I do?!" He started panicking. The popcorn was flying off everywhere and hitting everything causing a great mess in the kitchen
Ryosuke got scared because he might get hit by the popcorn. He looked for some kind of shield to protect him and he found a big pasta drainer. He placed it in front of him and tried walking forward but suddenly a huge pop was heard and he gave a squeal.
"What are you doing?" Yuto entered the place but Ryosuke pushed him back out.
"There's a popcorn explosion happening inside." Ryosuke explained. Yuto was very confused and at the same time amused of what Ryosuke was wearing actually. He was wearing his apron and mittens on. Then on his head was the pasta drainer and he had a ladle on one hand and a cover for a casserole on the other.
"A popcorn explosion? Then it shouldn't last long depending on the amount of popcorn you placed inside." Yuto pointed out. He took a peek inside and the popcorn still kept on flying everywhere and landed on everything inside the kitchen.
"I actually placed in half a kilo of popcorn." Yuto was surprised of what Ryosuke admitted.
"Don't be afraid. It's just popcorn." Yuto held onto his both his hands from behind and he made Ryosuke move forward.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Ryosuke was screaming hysterically. He dug his feet on the floor to stop Yuto but he was stronger than Ryosuke.
"I'm trying to help you." Yuto was actually laughing and he loved making fun of Ryosuke even since they went out together before.
Yuto kept on pushing Ryosuke forward and Ryosuke could see all the popcorn moving in every direction. He held onto his helmet and hid under it. He then suddenly felt Yuto stop pushing him and he popping sound stopped. He slowly looked up and saw he was in front of the stove and Yuto's hand on the knob for the stove.
"I told you I'm helping you." He heard Yuto saying behind him. Ryosuke gave a big sigh of relief then he took off all his armor and returned it to where he grabbed them from.
"I can't believe you wore such a get-up." Yuto teased him. " I mean you did wear that stupid reindeer costume when we were in high school but this is just at another level of dress-up." He added. Ryosuke's ear were getting red because of both embarrassment and anger.
"That was for the Halloween party!" Ryosuke tried to defend himself. It wasn't his fault that was the only costume left at the store.
"Yes, it's a Halloween party not a Christmas party." Yuto pointed out. Ryosuke just stuck his tongue out acting like a little kid.
"Atleast it was better than Jinno-kun's costume."
"Ah! The recycled mummy! That was actually pretty disgusting." They both laughed at the thought. Yuto sat down the counter top and Ryosuke sat beside him.
"How bout the next year. It was even worse than the first one." Ryosuke opened up the topic again.
"Yeah it was pretty bad. I didn't even know there was something called a garbage vampire." The two of them started this conversation and totally forgot about the movie. They kept on talking and talking that they didn't even bother cleaning up the place.
Kei came downstairs to check up on Ryosuke but then as he went nearer he heard laughing voices. He took a week inside the kitchen and saw Ryosuke and Yuto talking to each other and laughing. Kei showed a teasing smile then slowly went back up stairs.
"I think we should watch the movie without them." He said as soon as he entered the theater. The three looked back at him with questioning looks.
"Why so Inoo-chan?" Hikaru asked him and Kei was still wearing this smile on his face.
"Let's say they're having their own bonding time." Kei answered him casually then returned back to his seat beside Yabu.
"You could've atleast bring some popcorn." Hikaru added but Kei just rolled his eyes at him.
Back to the kitchen, the two are still same since Kei went down a few minutes ago. They were still remembering all these fun memories they had at high school. They would sometimes laugh and sometimes they'd be surprised that they still remembered a lot of things from each other.
"You know the place where they sell the most delicious pastries?" Ryosuke asked Yuto.
"Of course I do." Yuto answered him with confidence.
"They still sell the best tasting pastries ever since before! " Ryosuke bragged about it. The said shop was their dating place when they were still in high school and Ryosuke really cherishes that place and the memories he has in there.
"I know. I always bring Yuri there for a date." Ryosuke felt like collapsing right there. All of the sudden his memories of the place just turned dull and dark. Even his vision was getting foggy for real.
"Oh really. Yuri does like sweets." He showed him such a plastic smile. Ryosuke was on the verge of hyperventilation all of a sudden. He did some small breathing exercises.
"I know. He especially likes those little chocolate cupcakes with a puppy fondant on top." Yuto said and Ryosuke could really hear the love he had for Yuri. Ryosuke was asking himself if this was the kind of love Yuto had for him before too? Was Yuto also paying attention to his likes and dislikes like how he does to Yuri?
"I think I should go to bed now. It's getting late." He excused himself. On his way out he was clutching on his chest and Ryosuke foresees another asthma attack coming.
"Good night Ryosuke." He heard Yuto say before he could go farther. Ryosuke could feel the tears on the brim of his eyes and he tried blinking them away.
He managed to arrive in his room without collapsing on the floor but as soon as he entered his room he threw himself on the bed and he let everything out. His tears couldn't be stopped anymore and his heart was really beating a thousand times faster that it hurts. He rummaged through his drawer and grabbed his inhaler. He look a huge breathe in and let the drug ease his pain.
"Why? Why does it hurt so much?" He buried his face under his pillow and started crying again for who knows how long.
Yuto was still in the kitchen sitting on the counter top staring into nothing actually. He snaps out as soon as he saw Hikaru come in.
"I'm just gonna get some popcorn." He said as he saw Yuto looking at his way.
"You can just scoop some from the floor." Yuto suggested.
"He left it open again didn't he." Hikaru sighed. He would just clean it tomorrow he thought but then he realized ants might infect the place so he grabbed a broom and started sweeping the place.
"Shouldn't you get back to the movie?" Yuto asked him.
"Uh huh. But ants will show up any minute if I don't clean this up right away." Yuto then also grabbed a broom and helped Hikaru in sweeping.
"Yuto, can I ask a favor?" Hikaru said all of a sudden and Yuto came to a halt in sweeping.
"What is it?"
"Can you stop talking about Yuri in front of Ryosuke." This time Hikaru looked at Yuto and he looked very serious.
"But shouldn't he already get accustomed to it? So that he won't get these attacks everytime he just hears Yuri's name." Yuto answered back at Hikaru and Hikaru didn't like how he responded to him that he lunged towards Yuto and slammed him to the wall clutching his collar.
"You know very damn well why Ryosuke shouldn't get accustomed to it. He loves you!" Hikaru got this menacing look like he could kill Yuto right now. Yuto on the other hand was not threatened by him. Yuto even had the guts to give Hikaru a glare.
"I know that he does but I don't!" He pushed Hikaru away and he straightened up his shirt and walked out the kitchen.
"Just don't let him get his hopes up." This time it was more of a plead. Yuto stopped his tracks and looked back at Hikaru.
"I'm not. It's him who keeps chasing after me." Yuto didn't wanted to sound cocky or narcissistic but it was the truth in Yuto's opinion that is but vote Hikaru he was acting like a complete jerk and he couldn't help it that he ran towards Yuto and gave him a square punch on the face.
"Don't act like the world revolves around you! Don't you realize how much damage you've caused a single person but he still cries for you every night longing for you to come back instead of hating your guts! " Hikaru gave another punch on the other side of Yuto's face.
"Punch me all you want but nothing will change. I still can't love him." Hikaru was suddenly brought back to the past where Yuto and Ryosuke broke up and those words were as same as the ones he told Ryosuke that day.
"I don't love you anymore."
"I still can't love him."
It's still the same.
