So, I was thinking.

I know that this is technically Chicago, and we technically don't need to justify the celebration of Thanksgiving, and I don't know if the Wanderer community here already does something for the whole Thanksgiving thing, but this is my first Thanksgiving in Chicago, and I was pondering the spirit of the holiday in all it's food ( Read more... )

I've never had a Thanksgiving actually except what was thrown last year. It does sound appropriate. There was some food out last year like a Turkey and stuffing, but nothing like what you're suggesting.

I've no idea how to make anything, but I'll come if Hermione and Luna are coming and we'll try to make something together I suppose. The muggle way.

I figured a potluck would be easier given that there are probably a lot of Wanderers -- if everyone brings something, that pretty much guarantees that everyone will at least get something.

But yes, you and your friends would be very welcome.

That makes quite a bit of sense. I haven't actually cooked anything before, but I will cook something or try to at least if I come along. There have to be books on this sort of thing, right?

Thank you, and thank you for setting this all up.

You're welcome.

And yeah! There are tons of different cookbooks, or you can look things up on the internet.

Buffster, have to say, I'm glad you're not the only one doing the cooking. That could have scary results.

Count me in! I am so not a cook either.

OH! I can microwave! What needs microwaving at Thanksgiving? Something frozen or out of a can?

Hey! I'll have you know that I have gotten much better with the cooking. I haven't burned something beyond recognition in a very long time.

[granted she hasn't really COOKED in a very long time, but that's not the point]

I'm pretty sure there's something for Thanksgiving that's microwavable. Or you could always bring the cranberry sauce.

Have you? Okay. Now I have to see this for myself. You're still cooking a giant turkey. Have you ever cooked one of those before?

[This could turn out badly, very badly.]

Cause I think I might have to see that in action.

That comes in a can, right? Cool. Write me down for that.

Got it. Cranberry sauce for Xander.

I think I can handle one turkey. I've seen my mom do it a thousand times, so I'm pretty sure I could figure it out.

Yeah, it does come up fast, doesn't it? Some days it feels like I just got here.

I got here in April, so ... somewhere around the six month mark.

I wasn't around for last year's Thanksgiving, but count me in for this one, if my brother and the people I live with are interested.

I'll help with anything you need.

Great! Do you have a specialty food or dessert?

Wes has taught me to make his family recipe apple pie, if that counts?

I will never say no to apple pie. Even if it's only by proxy.

I see my friend Harry has already replied, and of course I would be interested.

I believe this is a wonderful idea!

Not to mention, it strengthens us all as a community. :)

That's what I was thinking too! The stronger we are together, the harder it will be to tear us apart.

Brilliant! I couldn't agree more. I'd love to make my own contribution, as well. I'll bring foods reminiscent of my own home world I believe would be to everyone's liking.

Great! That's exactly what we're looking for.
