On the other side, finally...

Saturday morning greeted me with a round of nausea that turned into a solid two day bout with food poisoning. Ugh. I hate it when it comes out both ends. (So do the people at Patient First, who apparently aren't smart enough to lay the patient down to take the damned blood pressure when said patient comes in ( Read more... )

Ick. I can sympathize. I got food poisoning when I was in China. I wouldn't wish that on anyone. I'm glad you're starting to feel better!

Thank you! Recovery's slow-going, but as long as I don't eat anything heavy these next few days it should even out. I think most of us have had a food poisoning story at some point. I had the stomach flu two years ago... and that was two whole weeks of this stuff! *hugshugs*

Bless you! Crackers, bread, gatorade, dr. pepper, and candied ginger pieces are getting me through. (Granted the Dr. Pepper is more for the psychological benefits and the burping.) *huggles you and hopes all the ice out there has gone away by now*

I've had salmonella once, and it was no fun at all. That either came from fast food or a dinged can, both of which I had had that day.

However, I'm generally pretty stout versus foodborne nasties. I chalk that up to my mom's less-than-ideal sanitation and food disposal practices when it comes to cooking, i.e. the George Carlin school of building your immune system. Things like, "The milk's not bad, it only expired a week ago" and the massive vats of spaghetti sauce she would make that would sit on the stove for nearly a week (with me eating some of it every time I passed it) before it would get put into smaller containers and be refrigerated. My grandma made good food but I really don't want to know what was in it either... I found something in her pantry once that was dated 1974.

I don't know of much that's not army rations that can last from 1974.

Matt had some bad chicken in Peru years ago and wound up with several months of nastiness. I'm hoping my own junk will clear out by the end of the week.
It could've been anything that we'd left out on the table, really. Or it could've been what I'd eaten for lunch. Either way, bleccck. I'm glad you're okay!

The biggest offenders seem to be the dairy/cream products and the meats when they're left out a long time. I'm sorry you weren't feeling well. Glad it wasn't on cause of the food, though!

I'm doing a bit better, though my stomach does back-flips any time I try to eat something solid other than crackers or bread.

I took off half a day yesterday and all day today to rest up. It's definitely better than it was, but I'll be glad to be able to eat again!
