Beyond being in the house, he had a supernatural sense that was connected to the house. He could sense everything going on there. And he knew, from how much time she'd spent in the kitchen and how much time she'd spent getting herself ready for this dinner that it was special and she probably wanted him around.
He takes his time getting there, but eventually, he does make it to the table. It's important to send the silent message that this and everything that goes on in his house is according to his terms.

He enters and she stands sudden, upsetting the chair and nearly upsetting her empty glass of wine. Standing she finds her feet which takes a few tries because the god damn floor keeps shifting and her eyes are unable to focus on the other end of the table, which gives her the apperance of a pouting, near sighted old man.
"Justin!" This is a declaration to all the hall. Empty. Vacant. Desolate. "Dinner is served!" Is she drunk, why yes, yes, she is.

After a hundred years of living you perfect looks. Justin has mastered the look of utter disdain, and without saying a word can make one feel lower then dirt. It makes Jane feel like a bug.
"I made dinner," captain obvious states, "I hope it's not cold. I can heat it up if you'd like."
