jennyspring Running her hands straight through her hair she prayed that it wasn’t looking too bad. Normally she would check it in the bathroom but Oliver was in there and they had already gone for two rounds this morning and she would be really late if she went in there, as he would see it as invitation to engage in round three. Picking up the midnight blue dress she intended to wearing, she slipped it on and pulled it down so it laid straight. Adjusting the sleeves so the laid right on her arms, a third of the way down, she continued her adjusting as Oliver came out of the bathroom. Smiling at him she barely paused in her fussing.
Slipping into the bathroom to check out her appearance she said, “So what are you doing today?”
Oliver sighed, adjusting his tie before answering, “I have board meetings all day and they will probably go into the night.”
“They can’t,” Chloe said, poking her head out of the doorway, “We have that charity thing before we’ve got the team meeting.”
“Why is the team meeting scheduled on the night of a charity event?”
“’Cause we set the meeting before realising we had an event to go too and since we’ve got the destruction of a thirty three point one coming up we need to have this meeting.”
Oliver sighed, sitting down to pull on his shows, “And here I was hoping that I’d be able to come home and ravish you tonight.”
“You know, you don’t have to ravish me every day,” Chloe said as she walked out of the bathroom. “I’m more than happy with bi-daily ravishing.”
Smiling as he slipped his arms around her, one around her chest the other resting near her hip, she sighed and leaned back into him. It was moments like this that made the madness worthwhile. After a year and a half together they’d gotten into a good rhythm. Their relationship had progressed nicely over the years. After her disastrous twenty second birthday party, and the wish that lead to nothing but chaos, she had taken up the role of Watchtower and somehow, she wasn’t sure how, they had grown closer. Dinners and lunches, coffees with organising missions, and the occasional charity event that he begged her to attend with him, somehow, from that, this had come about. Of course Lois blamed it on her being oblivious. According to her cousin they both spent too long in denial. Chloe, however, didn’t really care. They were together and happy now and that was all that mattered.
The press had spent the last few months speculating about a proposal but Chloe knew she wasn’t ready for a change that big just yet. She was happy with how they were. She had friends who loved her, the greatest cousin in the world, a team of superheroes at her beck and call, and the best boyfriend in the world. She was so appreciative of that and she knew that her relationship with Oliver was about to progress further but only so they were living together. They were practically doing that now, she was spending so much time at the clock tower and she had more things here than at her apartment, but since he hadn’t official asked yet she hadn’t felt the need to make it official. That didn’t stop the press’s speculation that they were living together and getting ready to head down the aisle.
“So,” Oliver whispered, “How about I blow off work and you take a sick day and we spend the whole day here, wrapped up in each other?”
“Hmmm it sounds tempting but I can’t. I have too much to do with my day.” Chloe replied turning in his arms, “However I will all your tonight.”
Smiling Oliver kissed her soundly on the lips before saying, “Are you sure there isn’t anything I can do to persuade you?”
“I’m sure there is but I’m not going to let you do any persuading.” Chloe replied kissing him once before pulling away. “Now put on your coat and get to work,” Chloe continued picking up his coat and tossing it too him.
“Fine, have it your way.” Oliver sighed, “Now we could have had lots and lots of fun today but instead we have to go to our boring jobs, then a boring charity event and our not so boring but not necessary meeting.”
“Stop whining and go,” Chloe replied grabbing her bag and pushing him out the door.
“You know,” Oliver said, kissing her gently, “I quite enjoy our morning ritual.”
“Oh really, and what ritual would that be?”
“You know I try to convince you to take the day off working, we talk about what we have to do and then you push me out the door with my coat in my hand.”
“Oh that ritual, I enjoy that ritual too,” Chloe replied with a smile before kissing him again.
“You know we should do it every morning.”
“We usually do,” Chloe replied with a shake of her head, as the pair walked down the stairs.
“I mean permanently,” Oliver said, pulling her to him, “As in every single morning from now until we die.”
“Ollie,” Chloe said with a raised eyebrow, “Are you saying what I think your saying?”
“If you think I’m saying move in with me then you’re right,” Oliver whispered. “Move in with me. Most of your stuff is already here and you’re always here so let’s just make it official.”
Laughing Chloe wrapped her arms around him, “Of course.” Kissing him gently she smiled as he deepened it and tried to pull her back up stairs. Breaking the kiss she whispered, “We’ll celebrate tonight and not a moment before. You have to go work and so do I.”
Oliver sighed, “Fine but this had better not be what it’s like for the rest of our lives.”
“Sweetie,” Chloe said, patting her cheek gently, “When we’re both retired we can have all the morning sex you like.”
“Well at least I have something to look forward too.”
